Maybe a stupid question . But do you think they paint them over whit black, back them. One the move a long aka the captain pack aka pack #3, its all black. But on the sergeant pack aka pack # 5, you can see the dial (maybe they have cover the dial, before they e.g spray paint it over whit black... or something). Cheers troops . I believe so sir,on the millenium falcon escape from mos eisley, you definitely can see the 'red-rocket' like color come out @Ray..may i? and i bet they paint it all black,on the original there are differences in color on the 3 main dial(the big ones) against the whole body,on screen caps there are no such difference........but i can be wrong to sir ;;:requesting backup:;;:........ TK8034
With the new information, maybe we can get some specs if not a real unit and finally get some accurate dimensions for the packs.

Thanks for your reply bro. As i post, i guess so too... that they was painted black. Maybe the dial too, on the captain pack. And 50% over on the sergeant... but i´m not sure at all... The most important thing is, that we have found the radio .

TK8034
Alright, if we can't get one of these radios then we will 3D model it with intent of having it injection molded. This will ensure the crispness of the knobs and speaker grill. The dials will be made in layers with the multiple colors evident. I'm very excited about this project. This should be a quick fun one. Jack_bauer
I have always been a giant fan of the sandy pack radio and all the different versions people have made. Seeing the actual detail of the speaker, the knobs, switches, and that graphic is GREAT! I think a step above vinyl stickers is laser cut the details of the graphic into clear plastic. A whole new inner child has been awakened in me to see this thing thru. I wait with interested eyes at what is accomplished.
dutchy
I'm currently discussing the availability of the Sonix with a vintage radio owner down in the UK, I'm hoping that he can help me/ us out. It sounded familiar to him so fingers crossed!!
Rolf
Nice to see, so many taking up the challenge. Trying to make the best radio, for our packs. I can´t wait, to add one of them to my packs . One day, i hope we can buy a full accurate pack kit. So we don´t need to search the ebay down, and paint and glue different items together. Trying to make a full pack . Many of the parts its still not accurate enough, that way. As the uk siphon, wrong version add to the 70´burger stackers etc... Once again, a big thanks to all out there. Trying to find the right stuff, and make it into production for us all . Move a long... move a long... Tttccczz.. ttzzcch... .

JohnQTK5122
This should be a quick fun one. Do you have these done yet, or what? I had originally vowed not to use replica items on my pack - real found items only (just because it seemed more fun that way, and it was a lot of fun looking for stuff) - but my attempt to recreate the radio has been the thing I am least happy with. I'm ready to break my vow.

boba
Wow.... I mean wow! What has happened here is just phenomenal! Total respect to you guys on your detective work! I am just in the process of doing my sandy and backpack and saw a post with a pic of the radio on and had thought I will have to map it out and vacform it... I hadnt seen this post at all! I look forward to seeing everyones new packs. Top marks for all involved...speachless.
boba
Just a thought... if the original radio had a black leather surround as shown on the pic, would our radios have to have the same or does anyone think the leather surround may have been removed for the film?? JohnQTK5122
Good Question. Since we can see (in movie stills) the connectors for the shoulder strap, maybe we'd have to know whether those are on the radio or on the leather case. Looks like they could be on the case?
