RoCKo
finally i got the time to get a few projects going i have had to remand for other things in live... exspecially my TE2 helmet from the very first run of only 8 helmets pulled and assembled by both TE and TE2! this is number 3of8 signed by TE and TE2. so for me this is a very special helmet and i really want to do it right. here is what i did so far... this is the helmet like it came out of the box i filled up the not accurate mould-damages with some sort of putty used a rattlecan sprayfiller and sanded it with 800 paper grid down next i began cutting the eye and nose holes followed by filing and cleaning with sandpaper 800 and 1200 grid please let me know what dou you think! exspecially for the eye and nose holes! thanks guys! TD-1536
Looking very good so far. What rattle can spray filler did you use? I'm looking for such an item.
RoCKo
thanks mike, i used a can from a car garage store called "Spritzspachtel" it´s made in germany by a "Peter Kwasny Group"! i doubt it can be found in the US too! here is a picture of the can btw. talking about colors... i tested some color to get the HDPE undercolor... here is my testpainting on a sheet of styrene with Rustoleum gloss white on top of it... it looks a little more green than in the picture... Daetrin
Thanks for the tip! I'm thinking of transforming one of my TE2's from ANH to ESB and also want to make it a smooth cap n back, so this transformation is very interesting for me. tatooineboy
It is so pretty! I have one too, but I kept the "bumps" and other imperfections along the brow for some character. It also added to the weathering effects, too. Personal preference, I suppose. Keep us updated on your progress!
RoCKo
thanks tatooineboy, i thought of just leaving those mould-damages for a very, very, very long time as i haven´t had the time to build tis helmet for over a year now... you´re absolutly right, if i weren´t out for accuracy i would have left them for sure, i think the gave the helmet some texture... i only filled the front damages, all other bumbs were left alone! troopermaster
I don't know if it is just me, but the pics seem to be taking forever to load. All the other threads are no problem, just this one From the first few pics, everything looks great RoCKo

Darth_Nickel
Just curious... I have a TE that I'm working on and it came trimmed. Did this one you are working on come trimmed, but you wanted to trim more? Did this TE2/TE need to have all the frown and eyes cut? I'm just trying to make sure that I don't need to trim mine. Here's a pic for a reference. No trimming done by me. I love the look that you have done for the TE2. That's a sweet bucket man!!!!
troopermaster
That HDPE colour is looking nice RoCKo I have a helmet waiting for the same treatment, that has been sat doing nothing for at least 6 months. Got all the paints and everything, just need to make a start like you have done.

steve12201
Actually, someone already put the tube stickers on my helmet. I started to peel them off but had a helluva time doing it. Then I realized that I could use the stickers as a template to paint over. Turned out pretty good in the long run. It might work for you and you can still apply copious amounts of Johnny Walker Black/Coke. Steve

TD-1536
That is going to be a very nice helmet! BTW...while JW and coke sounds nice, I go straight for the Makers Mark on ice. Last night however, I enjoyed some Dewars Scotch.
steve12201
Sweet! You got to love scotch. Rocko, make sure you don't let the mask sit too long after painting. I waited a few days and it dried up as hard as a rock and I couldn't get it off without tearing the stickers off with it. I had to paint my stripes over it.
