  1. I'm game and can probably get some Dune Sea Garrison folks there as well. We did a photo shoot there in 2007...thats where my banner came from. More shots can be seen on my facebook page....just look for Stephen Lentz or chevelle.ss to find me. We even took an R2 unit on the shoot....the sand was murder on the motors. Mesa Steve
  2. And so, once again, we take one step forward and two steps back in our goal to perfect the ultimate, movie -accurate Sandtrooper costume...you got to love human nature. <_< Oh well....it was nice while it lasted. Mesa Steve
  3. Hey Mike, These are awesome! Any chance I can get one down the road in Arubesh text? Thanks, Mesa Steve
  4. Happy Birthday Jay. I don't think you drink, so I'll buy you a Coke and have 2 beers for me. Mesa Steve
  5. E-6000 has been the best for withstanding the desert heat....even better than ABS glue. Mesa Steve
  6. 4455, Yes, please do.....if we march again. I haven't heard if this is going to be an annual thing. I hope so. We had a blast and it has been one of my most favorite events thus far. Messing around with the bands while waiting to march was the best......some of the pictures are priceless! Scott, dude...we need to talk about that TS..... Steve
  7. Hey!! Thats me with the DLT-19 strapped across my front and the black pauldron...... I'm a lot less ugly with the helmet on. Oh well. Steve
  8. It is VERY possible the blowing sand essentially sandblasted the weathering off the armor during the shoot and had to be touched-up for other scenes. I was fortunate enough to be in a photoshoot with Braksbuddy (Art) at the Imperial Dunes in California in October 2007 and we learned how harsh the blowing sand can be. My armor/boots had almost no weathering by the end of the day and his camera lense was ruined. My banner is a pic from that shoot....the only Photoshoping was changing the color to greyscale, cropping, and adding the font. Thanks again Art Steve
  9. Can you post a pic of what the run would by styled after? Steve
  10. Very cool! I'm famous! hahahaha Steve
  11. I believe I still need section access as well. Stephen Lentz TD-8918 Dune Sea Garrison Thanks!
  12. I used Brak's tutorial to get the detailed areas (the cracks and corners and such), then I used dust from my back porch and hairspray for the final details. Since I live in the desert, its the real deal. Funny thing though, when some guys from our garrison and Art from TDH went to the Imperial Dunes (Imperial County California) for a photo shoot, the wind created a sand-blasting effect and actually cleaned our armor back to white. My boots were the dirtiest part of my suit and now they are almost back to clean TK status. It kind of makes you think that the "actual" sandtroopers would have been pretty clean too (except for their filthy brownish underarmor) Steve
  13. I guess I'll be putting my two babies back under their blanket for another year. Steve
  14. I used the BraksBuddy tutorial and then used a light covering of dust off my back porch. Since I live in the desert and the **** stuff is everywhere, I figured it could be useful for a change. I applied it with hairspray. I love the look but have to re-apply it about once a year as it does wear off. Ironically, when we were doing a photo shoot at the Imperial Dunes on the California/Arizona border, the wind and blowing sand actually sandblasted most of the weathering off of my suit. I guess in reality, sandies would be almost as white as TK's.....strange. PS My Banner was one of the shots from that shoot. Steve
  15. Yeah, I have over 1000 high res shots from the shoot on a CD. Send me your Email addy and I will try to match up the ones for you. Steve
  16. Sure, you can use them. I wouldn't mind having copies of your finished pics if you get a chance. The photos were taken by Art (Braksbuddy) from The Dented Helmet . He is quite a photographer! Steve 8918
  17. You guys ever notice that there are a several variations of him...I've seen 5 prominent ones... Orange pauldron - Dirty (Most realistic dirt) Orange Pauldron - Very Dirty - looks like he slid through rust - Ebay link above. White Pauldron - Dirty (The pauldron looks grey to me though ) White Pauldron - Very Dirty White Pauldron - Clean (seems to be the least common) I've heard there are variations in the stickers too....Fan's Choice v Fans' Choice Just my 2 cents Steve
  18. Thanks! Ready to serve the Empire Steve
  19. Thanks guys, getting the OK from the masters is quite an honor! Here are a few more from the day. Enjoy: On patrol, the hunt: The prey: Scott Chana BH#8759 IS Boba Fett: Still looking: The Mandos see something on the horizon: Move in!: Gotcha: 30 years, but we found him: **** Yeah! Where's the gold one? Off again: TD-8918 Reporting for duty, sir: The droid looks like an enemy unit but it is actually R2-J2 belonging to Ray Sanders TK-5721....he's the "newbie" with the clean armor....hey, at least he isn't a "red shirt" {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif
  20. My Hyperfirm came today. I pulled it out and it looks great. It is slightly lighter than my cast resin one and will bounce when I drop it where the cast resin one did NOT. Overall, I am very hapy with Lewis as the deal went fast and smooth. I can only hope that this will be the beginning of reliable, quality service, from a remarkable prop weapon maker. I will be buying a Lewis gun from Lewis in the future. Thank you sir, Steve
  21. I like it a lot too. I'm for less is more. Frankly, I think it should be mostly your preference (as long as we are within reason). Good job!
  22. Thanks, I just wish I left my neckseal on for the bucket-off shot....It drives me crazy because it catches the back lip of my lid. Do you see anything I need to do/change to become bonafied as a MEPD Officer? Got the gun, the pack, the TD ID from the 501st, the TD paint/no stripes, the AP armor, the AB/Sniper changeover, REAL SAND, and a lot of desert to patrol.....just need my orders. Thanks....
  23. Would some type of Vinyl or automobile interior paint would work as a base coat? A paint with extra flex-agent in it might serve as a useful medium between the plastic and the desired paint color coat.
