Ilovesand&dirt
What color EXACTLY do you guys paint the frown of the helmet? I think its a gloss grey but which one? I know about the stickers, I want paint. How exactly do you paint it? I know you mask it off but should the face be up? No dripping then. Thanks. roman_imperial
OK I do not know about anyone else but I used normal craft paint, then clear coated it with a mat finish. It looks good. It is a nice dark grey. Use folkart or americana (spelled something like that) They have a nice range of colors and it's easy to find at any craft store. trooperexpert
we have noticed for sandtroopers, it is really close to testors flat grey.. M
SethB6025
I used Humbrol Ad Grey #5. The testors looks nice too, and is a little easier to find.
Ilovesand&dirt
Thanks guys and gal, Can you get the testors in a spray form? Or is it just brush? I would think spray would be easier.
trooperexpert
Brush only for that color. Wow, humbrol is easy for you to find? I cannot get it in WA, only 2 1/2 hours south to where I am headed in 4 days! WOO! M
troopermaster
If anyone wants the humbrol paints from UK I'll gladly get them some and ship them anywhere
TD-1536
I also found the Rustoleum Smoke Gray spray paint works perfect. Just spray some on a paper plate and brush on.
avatar_man
I used Testors "Model Master" Flat Gull Gray.... After I got everything done, I then semi-gloss coated averything... worked great.
Stomper
Rustoleum Smoke Grey here, too. I masked off the frown with black electrical tape as it really forms around the contours of the teeth quite well, and seals down real tight along its edge, making for a nice very clean and crisp paint line! Be sure to keep the rest of the bucket covered from over spray while painting! Use the same color for the rear trapazoids and "tears" under the eyes. yeah, yeah... I know its a clean bucket! Its before I hit dirtside! (edited for a STUPID typo!!)

CMANavy
I used the humbrol for the frown and the Teardrops, side and back pannels and the ears. I did it all free hand.

hpdblues
Hey gang, Couldn't resist throwing in my 2 Republic Credits: I did exactly what the "Master" told me to do in 2004...Testors "1138" - how's that for "kool"? Guns
Stomper
Yeah, the "pillar look" is what I prefer too! I use black electrical tape to tape off the teeth as it "bends" and "moulds" the contours without "crinkling", which makes for an EXCELLENT tape line. I don't hand paint as much as possible, and I sure don't mix the stuff, LOL. You must be a true artist!
