weiBes trooper Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Does anybody know what type of binoculars where used in ESB,i would like to track down a real pair and maybe do some resin copies, but i need help finding out what they are. Thanks WeiBes Quote
SethB6025 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 http://www.partsofsw.com/ click; classic, item, then scroll to elecrtobinoculars. an excerpt; The electrobinoculars were based on laser rangefinders in use at the time of filming by the Norwegian Army, the same guys who played the Hoth Rebel Troopers. The exact model is believed to be the Simrad Optronics LP7. Pictured below is a slightly newer model, the LE-7. The only confirmed difference is that the LE-7 uses an "eyesafe" laser. Quote
weiBes trooper Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Thanx Seth,i am going to try and locate these.might take awhile and who knows what they will cost? i will keep this thread updated on what i find and if its possible to duplicate these. Quote
td2878 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I know a fellow sandtrooper from my garrison who has one as he showed it to me once, it was sweet!!! im sure he told me that he paid quite a lot for it! Quote
SethB6025 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I have heard they are pricey, if you can find them. Then you'll need the model parts as well. I'd love a resin version for display. Along with the scanner Luke uses, that thing is rad. Quote
freakengine Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Richie's Armor has a kit that looks pretty good. I've had no dealings with them, so have no idea if it's decent or not, but it looks good in the pics. Anyone ever deal with Richie's Armor? http://www.richiesarmor.com/costumes_hoth.htm Quote
shortimer52 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Ive seen one of RA binos up close, looked great but its got some weight to it. Quote
SethB6025 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 They look pretty swift, I'd like to do a set for display in the theater room. (when I have a theater room, that is ) Considering the size they're probably pretty hefty. Good thing I'm anti-SE, I wouldn't want to troop with them. Quote
Muad'dib Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I think Han used the scanner, but I love that thing too. Quote
SethB6025 Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I think Han used the scanner, but I love that thing too. how embarrassing. Quote
freakengine Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Considering the size they're probably pretty hefty. Yeah, it's too bad there's no hyper-firm version...yet. Quote
freakengine Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Ooooh, will there be? Ooops. Sorry. I didn't mean to infer that this was actually happening. It just seems to me to be an obvious choice for the hyper-firm treatment. Quote
Muad'dib Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 You trickster! You got my hopes up. Quote
weiBes trooper Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks for all your help guys, but so far i found very little on these.what i did find looks to be very expensive.it would be nice to run across these in some surplus store,i will keep checking, someone has to have a old pair somewhere? Even if they dont work is fine with me,i want to do a snowtrooper,i have the mukluks, just need the armor.Thats a project way down the road for now,but i am always collecting the little bits to make stuff.WeiBes Quote
Darksaber212 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I have a Richies bino set. Very nice detail but they are a bit hefty. It might be possilble to hollow them out some and add electronics. I haven't started on them but that's my plan. Great if you want it as a display piece. Quote
TD5422 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I have a RA one as well, mine is hollow though Quote

tk7602 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 i thought for about 12 seconds about hunting down real ones. i'm going to stick to the sub hunt game for now. $20 and some white spraypaint works for me Quote
weiBes trooper Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I will still look, but i think your rite on that one. Quote

slave1pilot Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Ooooh, will there be? Ooops. Sorry. I didn't mean to infer that this was actually happening. It just seems to me to be an obvious choice for the hyper-firm treatment. Oddly enough, we are currently searching for an original Simrad right now Anyone have a lead? Quote
