theGreatSot
That helmet looks AWESOME! What kind is it and what method did you use for the weathering?
avatar_man
I am using the tutorial from the Dented Helmet web site...multi layers (yellow ocher is essential to the layering)...... The helmet is a custom styrene helmet by a friend of mine..... a very limited run for a fan film...

TD-1536
yeap, I responded in a PM, and it looks great. The finishing touch would be some Fuller's Earth for sure. But even if your don't I can't complain.
avatar_man
I have searched the world over and there doesn't seem to be any fuller's earth anywhere in Indiana..... suggestions?
runJEDIrun
you can order some online. this place is the most affordable ive found. http://www.woodlandscenics.com/items.htm/E...idPigment#C1216
TD1009
Fullers Earth is a soup ingredient right? And also used for make up? I think I've seen it at costume/make up shops.
SethB6025
Soup!?!?!

TD1009
soap! Oops... The helmet looks great avatar_man, makes me want to re-do mine!
Art Andrews
Looks great! the only suggestion I would make is that the weathering has some of the same issues mine originally did. It is too uniform. Rub a little more off in places and add a little bit more dark splotches here and there to break it up. Tone it all down with fullers and you should be good to go! Again, great job!!! runJEDIrun
yeah i totally had that problem the first time around. im a very symetrical person, so weathering took me a while to get used to.
avatar_man
Thanks, All notes and suggestions are being weighed and considered... I appreciated the honest feedback, makes me feel better and inadequate at the same time .....
Art Andrews
You have absolutely no need to feel inadequate. You have done a great job! Just fine tune it. If it makes you feel better, here is my first weathering attempt vs my final...

RoCKo
i have to find a alternative way, there is no way to buy fuller´s earth in germany... could anybody send me some fuller´s earth to germany?
avatar_man
Finding Fuller's Earth in Indiana is not easy either... nada, zip - nothing... Is is paint? Is it dust? Is is liquid? Is it actually dirt based?.......
runJEDIrun
i dunno. i think it is just a powder. looks like finely graded sand. if worse comes to worse you can order it online. thats what i did. no fullers earth around where i live.
Arppegio
It looks like powder. When mine came in I thought it was some sort of protein drink mixture that I had some how ordered. I ordered mine online because I wasn't sure on the availability near me. There were shops I could check out but I honestly didn't feel like driving around. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/davin/replica_weathering.htm I ordered the stuff that Braksbuddy listed. I'm now waiting on my paint to come in.
RoCKo
@ Ashaman i followed Brak´s tutorial step by step and it went easier than i actually thought! the best part to start with seems to be the backplate of your torso parts... it is big and has some bigger parts to learn your lessons... the most important thing for me is the finish of the lines where parts connect to eachother or dominating parts like the details of the abplate... and one good thing is that the backplate will be covered by the backpack anyway... and do yourself a favor and keep the helmet as your last part! i didn´t and it was very hard to get it near to what i like...
