SethB6025
After many hours of work assembling, painting, finishing, and weathering, I'm ready to call my helmet "done" (V 1.0, anyway). I have yet to weather the hovi mic tips, and I have a bottom moulding to add tonight, otherwise, I'm done tweaking it, for now. Special thanks to Mike1536 for the weathering, in a few days I should have the rest of the armor weathered as well (I'm at about 75% as of yesterday)

TD-1536
Thats a great weathering job.Does that come off if someone grabs it or gets it wet? Normally holding mine, the dirt stays in place with very little coming off. You should generally spray a little extra hairspray over the affixed Fullers Earth to keep it in place. However, a good splash of water or rain, will ruin it.
SethB6025
After following up with hairspray, it doesn't tend to rub off easily. Water, however, is a different story.

troopermaster
WOW those helmets looks fabulous You've really got this weathering nailed...top job! I'm thinking about the stuff coming off and remembering back to my school days when we used to use pastels in art class,we sprayed something on the pictures to stop the pastel coming off.Now I don't know if this would work on the helmets and armour but it's worth asking at your local art store or hobby shop?Just a thought....... -Paul. It's generally a spray lacquer, often referred to as gloss or dull coat. It would certainly help in sealing it, but I think it would ruin the look because you'd end up with either having dull/flat armor or shiny dirt. I went to art school for a number of years and don't recall it being anything other than one of those two items.

I'll probably end up getting some fuller's earth and see if any other sandies in my garrison would be interested in splitting the cost. Before doing so however, do you know of any alternative mediums to achieve similar results? If not then I assume fuller's is the only way to go. Thanks!
