FIVE
no HDPE helmets allowed?I'm sure they're allowed. Just not a popular / prevalent option so it's not listed.
3778
I noticed besides some grammar issues the CRLs on the 501st site http://501st.com/crl/TD_CRL/TD002_Sandtrooper/index002.php and the CRLs posted on the MEPD http://www.mepd.net/crl/ differ on some of the requirements. Which is the correct CRL to follow?
FIVE
I noticed besides some grammar issues the CRLs on the 501st site http://501st.com/crl/TD_CRL/TD002_Sandtrooper/index002.php and the CRLs posted on the MEPD http://www.mepd.net/crl/ differ on some of the requirements. Which is the correct CRL to follow? They were both made by me — with much help from many. The one on the MEPD will soon match more closely (especially in verbiage and "grammar") to the one on the 501st. The one on the 501st was created using a standards set by the LMO. We worked very closely with the FISD to get our language and wording to match in all possible areas. The CRL on the MEPD was sort of my "staging" area to get things right. But the one published on the 501st is the more recent of the two. Now, on to your question, follow the 501st to get into the 501st... follow the MEPD to get deployed. Ours is, and will continue to be, much more specific. Calling out things that aren't required for Legion acceptance. Setting the bar "higher" from the beginning as it were. We figure if people are here looking at the CRL they are hoping to do a really good TD, and not just a passable TD. That help?

3778
Great work. We needed a TD CRL for a long time. I understand that designated sites for certain characters usually have higher standards which I am all for but I feel that both should have the same set of CRLs. I think it may confuse some who are new to the whole thing or get upset if one says one thing and the other says another and they cannot get deployed. Whatever way it goes not everyone will be happy that is just life. I know enough about Sandtroopers that I will go the way that is more accurate of the two. Again great work. Daetrin
Remember though that the intent of the CRL is not to be a requirements list, but is intended to be a visual guide for the costume and just one tool the GML uses when judging a member. Alas, the only costume to have a written CRL is the sandtrooper and that was done years ago and I'm not sure anyone really knows about it. Otherwise, there are no written standards, and the GML is pretty free to use their own judgement. Sound strange? Yes, it is but such is the current state of the Legion. Also, to be fair many costumes have quietly been upping the bar at least since I've been in, so this issue is not specific to TK/TD, or even armored costumes at all. EDIT: for background I submitted my first CRL in 2006 and have either been a DL, DXO, or on the LC since (and at times, two of 3) so have seen it through it's process since the inception and how it's metamorphasized since. FIVE
Great work. ...Again great work. Thanks man. And, for my part, you're welcome. Oh, and yes... someone is always not happy. I've learned not to let it effect my happiness though. Remember though... [lots of good stuff...] Yes! Thanks as always Paul. I (often) forget to make sure and mention that "it's a guideline" fact.
