TD2802
I heard a dog leash works. Not sure if they make any that wide to lug a lewis though...
TD7377
I ordered a 1.5" natural cowhide belt strip from tandyleather.com. I'll take pics as soon as I get it.

TD7377
how long??? is it wide enough? i was looking at their catalogue last night and i was thinking along the same lines I ordered the 72" belt. As far as width, I think 1.5" should be okay. I'll have pics when I'm all done.

maj_hassel
One thing I'm curious about, if you have a Hyperfim Lewis (T-21...sorry) and would like to have it look as screen accurate as possible, how would you attach the strap to the butt of the rifle without drilling or damaging the rifle? I'd like to run the strap through one of those "D" shaped clips like in the movie but don't know how I should affix it to the soft rubber. I'd like to run the strap through one of those "D" shaped clips like in the movie but don't know how I should affix it to the soft rubber. I don't think you can. Even if you did cut through it, it would eventually tear right off anyway. I haven't solved this problem yet.
The Dirty Trooper
I have a solid wooden butt on my T-21, but I can't seem to find a "D" sling hook. Can anyone help me out with a butt sling hook? Come on it's Christmas...
maj_hassel
Can anyone help me out with a butt sling hook? Come on it's Christmas... You're asking us to put your butt in a sling? I know, I know bad joke...I just couldn't help myself. Besides, I don't even know if that joke translates well overseas. I don't know, would a D-ring in an airmail envelope cost that much to send? I'll have to look into it after all of this holiday hoopla is over. There's possible good news for us Hyperfirm owners: upon close examination of the screenshots from ANH, it looks as if there is a second leather loop which goes around the butt. This, if it exists, might have been done to avoid damaging the actual guns which were, I'm assuming, on loan to Lucas for the shots. Here's some pics which show, what I believe to be, a second leather loop: First a close up of the butt... ...and here's some enhanced pictures Any opinions? The Dirty Trooper
I beg to differ. On close inspection it look as if it's attached to the butt/stock be means of the original lewis gun rear sling swivel.
maj_hassel
You may be right. It looks like something is attached to the butt or else the stock has a unique shape to it. Hard to tell. Irregardless, I think that's the method I'm going to use for mine. I'll have a small leather loop with a D-ring attached by a swivel and then the rest will be the normal long strap with a loop. While it may be not stand up to the utmost canonical scrutiny, it definitely beats punching holes in a fairly expensive prop. Who knows, maybe I'll attach a small pouch to the butt as well, just to give it a little flair.
The Dirty Trooper
I have tried the bay for a T-21 stock/butt rear sling swivel but i can't get one. anyone got one to sell (I mean a propper rear sling swivel)
The Dirty Trooper
For the love of God. I can't get a rear sling swivel ANYWHERE for my T-21. I have tried the US, UK. Has anyone got one I can have? Please help me...
SethB6025
Marc, does it have to be from an actual Lewis, or would a similar piece of hardware suffice?
The Dirty Trooper
As long as it looks good it should be OK. i have tried and tested some stuff but because the sling is 1.5" it needs to look the part.
SethB6025
I ask because I think I saw something at the local hardware store that would be very similar. I have to go there shortly, I'll have a look and let you know if I come up with anything.
TD2802
Anyone have any luck finding a rear sling swivel or something close yet? I already have a couple D-rings from an old MP holster one of them could go on. Thanks
shortimer52
I know this is an really old thread. But did the D ring problem ever get fixed? Any pic of the leather slings? Can always try gunbroker.com for parts.
TD5422
I got mine at ****'s sporting goods, and it came with 2 size screws, but these should work. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/45630-10303-1146.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/44620-10781-1146.html
shortimer52
Well I found this for the Hyperfim Lewis guys. Like me http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MGR044-46241-1150.html I think that leather on the stock comes with it, "I think". Either way if you can get something like that for the stock you can attach that to the stock nice and tight and add a sling onto that so you’re not messing up the rubber stock. It’s not movie perfect, but it would work. Dye the leather a dark color, weather it up a little. Could look cool, and still be use full. Think ill do that. td2878
im still looking for the sling material, i found some nylon dog leashes but they werent wide enough....
bearden6521
I've seen natural leather dog leashes at the local petsmart that would work too. If you have a farm & tractor supply you might be able to find a strip of leather at one of their stores. They sell a lot of leather products for horses... Scary thought but has anyone ever tried using a type of plastic wall anchor to mount the hardware for the sling to attach onto their hyperfirm buttstock? Maybe that will hold without pulling out and tearing the rubber...just a thought im still looking for the sling material, i found some nylon dog leashes but they werent wide enough.... TD5422
I got 1inch wide cotton webbing at Joann's, it looks good, I think this was discussed before, but I don't think the sling is leather.
