As some of you might have seen, i´m done whit my new TM sandtrooper:

But the bad snowy weather, and all the sandy trooper gear on...

it can be hard, to see the weathering job good.

So i just took some close ups today.

On my older sandtrooper suits, i have used around 4 to 8 different colors.

But on this one i only used one.

Because i´m pretty sure they only used one too, back then in ANH.

As far as i know, they used sand dirt mixed whit burned oil, and brushed on:

Looking at e.g this photo, its pretty clear to see they only used one color.

And its just darker, where there are a thicker layer:

Here you see the color i used for the job.

Its a mixes woodland tone, Raw umber whit a little bit of Concrete in:

Rolf, just one color mixture will do for your current TM Sandtrooper armor? Are you experimenting with another approach to weathering?

Yeah i will only use 1 color from now one, a tone down Raw Umber

Easy to work whit vs. all the colors, plus give more accurate finish i think.

very close to what i do....the only difference is that i actually mix a light sand based grout into my paint. its called latticrete and is available at most home improvement centers. for about 10.00 you can do your armor and about a hundred others. I tried the woodland scenics and about 50 other techniques from across the web and after scrubbing my armor clean and reapplying i ended up where i am at. very happy with the results. you can actually feel the sand on my armor...cool effect with the kids.

Just woodland alias Raw umber, whit a little bit of the woodland color tone aka Concrete in.

I just test it again home last night to seek a even better fit, and made a few chances:

1. The chest is higher up now.

2. The back is add to the kidney.

3. The legs straps are add in the top front to the inside belly, so they don´t fall out from my legs.

4. Biceps are turned, so the match the detail string going down from there to the bicep string.

5. The back pack strap is shorter now, the back pack are pulled up.

Sounds too cool about the real sand touch look to it, i might try it too one day.

I´m sure i´m not 100% done, in my best way to add weathering on a suit yet.

I guess thats a part of the hobby, all ways something can be looked into, try out etc

Thanks bro´s, i´m happy you like this new style of look, whit only one color.

Its funny/cool how many tones of details, you can get out of just one colors.

From light, to dark... all after how thick layer you use, or keep there etc.

Weathering is still something that you must keep practicing on, but when you get the right feel like Rolf has...man, then you get an A+ result every time!!

I must say that I am also fiddling with one colour mixture now, or at least have tried it and it's really amazing how many colour differations you can get.
