NMMI89 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Hey all. I was just wondering how y'all store and transport your armor? How do you take it to various deployments in other cities? I'm building my armor in another city and I fly there every other week to work on it. When it's done I'd like to take it home. But I don't think it'll fit in my carryon. Quote
Dutch Dirty Trooper Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I really think it depends on what you find it the easy way ! Some have a big trolley box, some in a big military bag and some in two big shopper bags..really depends on what you find easy ! At home i have a mannequin for my armor ! Grtz RAY Quote
TD-7620 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I use a hard-case suitcase, which (just about) takes the entire armor. The helmet is carried in a motorbike helmet-bag. Quote
TD-7620 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Well, I don't have a backpack...yet <_< Quote
TD-9914 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I use a Stanly Large wheeled tool box. They go for $59 at believe (could be $49 actually) at HOME DEPOT. I painted it and added stickers for shits n giggles. I have one for each costume. My TD fits in here currently. Depending on how you constructed you armor, it IS POSSIBLE TO FIT HELMET ARMOR AND BACKPACK into this. If your backpack is modular, IT WILL FIT. My DLT-19 goes in a case and does not fit, as it is too large, however an E-11 has room to spare. Since my new pack is under construction, I will submit photos of how I get it all together. Either way, this tote is perfect. I don't know if Airlines take it. You can't fly with anything these days, but it is great for driving distance conventions, especially Dragon-Con. The item is called: Stanley 37-025 Mobile Tool Chest http://www.drillspot.com/products/439573/S...bile_Tool_Chest The price listed is $84.97 BUT do not buy it here. Go to HOME DEPOT and it is $59.00 and there is no shipping. Good luck! Quote

Marcel Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Man they are expensive. Do you think we would get away with the slightly smaller one? Quote
trooper1 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Hey, I use a rubbermaid large storage bin from Lowes, $29.00 It also has wheels on it. If you have anything like that there, check on that. I also just lined it in fleece, with contact cement. Jay Quote
Marcel Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Does it have any where in the box to hang up my posh new pauldron Jay Quote
Pappy Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Or call a handyman/whatever,and make one with your own specifications,i done that with most of my guitar case.....and intend to make one for my armor later Quote
Daetrin Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I just got a bin from Fred Meyer. Get something with wheels and a handle. For flying I have a hard shell suitcase. Some have had great success with hockey bags. Quote
