My new buddy aka mr.T-21.

Recommended Posts

Okay here you see him.

For a long time, i have only got the E-11 and DLT-19 whit me.

But now its time for this monster.

As far as i know, the only thing i need to make it a T-21 from a Lewis gun.

Is the canvas belt, add it around the barrel and to the end of wood whit a metal ring.

Is this it.

And are there any there know, what is the right:

Canvas belt, size/colour/metal dots/metal ring etc.

Where to buy it, or what to use.

Please share it here.

Best regards.

Rolf .

Thanks Rocko.

Looks like...

Just to add the small metal ring down the in the wood end.

Let the canvas go through, and up around the barrel.

It looks like that there is more sewing, and metal dots on the belt then a belt mechanism.

And the wood parts, looks more like black then wood from here too .

I get down to it .

I concur! I now have to go back... and paint my stock black again and add an oil can cap.

What are you going to do about the 3rd ring on the HF barrel?

As for my strap, I am using 2 M1 Garand straps, sewing together, and adding a plate with rivets. I think they had to do something similar to make the strap for that scene. A M1 khacki strap is 41" inches fully extended... the gun is 50" inches long! My guess is 60"-70" long for the strap to dangle correctly.

Rolf, I will send you pics of my strap next week. AND, I found a good source for the rear strap sling at the bottom of the butt stock.

Troop on!

John

I think your right friend.

I´m all green here on the T-21 thing.

I have only been looking into making this MG34 to a DLT-19.

So i will be more then happy for some back up info, to make this Lewis monster as good as i can.

Thanks John .

Yo me again.

It seems to be a gun ring to the stock, maybe a shot gun metal ring stock.

Gotta find that one.

The army canvas belt i don´t where to get yet.

I looks like a machine gun belt, form the ww2

http://www.ima-usa.com/product_info.php ... ts_id/1745

Maybe dot together because it was too short.

But what about the black rings, around the barrel.

Looks like there are 14 rings in there.

Do you what it is?.

What to use.

Where to look.

If not i might go to a build ground.

I have seen them use big long ring tubes, to lay in the ground there.

Some times they cut them here and there, just to ****** them.

It also looks like there are some metal strings on the left/right barrel, to hold the 14 black rings to the barrel.

What is that???.

What do you think.

Here you see mine.

But in ANH it seem to be black stock/gun grip.

Should i paint it in black, or let it stay wood .

Thanks for looking.

I am painting mine black again! The rings are corrugated drain tubing. You should be able to find it where they sell plants and hard ware.

What is the verdict on the ring count 12, 13, 14?

I bought two M1 Garand straps in khaki and will sew together. $29.00 shipped. One is way too short.

Mike? Any idea on exact length? Do you want to mandate a length?

Rolf, hope that helps.

OK, this is how I am doing mine. Based on the screen caps – especially the front shot of the marching troops and the prop master shot – I photoshopped the necessary changes.

Based on the pics, this is what I deduced...

- There is a thick wire that moves forward from the ribbed section, drops down, then wraps up towards the barrel tip, just under the canvas strap.

- There is a screwed or bolted on binder ring on the forward "ring" just aft of the ribbed section.

- There is coiled wire, same stuff as on the E-11. That is what that loop is.

- There is no 3rd binder ring on the barrel tip. On your gun, that is a "tell." Some Lewis Guns had it, most did not.

- The sling is made of 2 rifle slings. Sewn, then rivited at the front, wrapped around the cylinder on the gas regulator.

- There needs to be a hoop sling loop on the lower part of the butt stock, forward of the oil can bottom.

- The screen-used Lewis Gun had an oil can. Many did not, since there were variants. I added it to mine in Photoshop... don't worry, I will add it in real life too.

- The stock is black. You are going to have to paint that one to be True-to-Screen. So am I.

Hope that helps. Good luck Rolf!

Wow thanks John.

Very nice info, a big thanks from here .

Thats is what i was thinking about:

- There is a thick wire that moves forward from the ribbed section, drops down, then wraps up towards the barrel tip, just under the canvas strap.

I did not know about the:

- There needs to be a hoop sling loop on the lower part of the butt stock, forward of the oil can bottom.

Wuhu this Lewis gun is harder to make accurate, then was thinking...

But is a hobby, so its kind of funny too.

Love to see some more pictures, of you lovely weapon.

Info, sites/links etc...

I love to get it accurate, hate to miss something out here in this hobby we got.

Peace out bro .

Thanks Brother... I am just trying to get us on the same page visually, regardless of what flavor of Lewis people like.

I updated the pic to show the comparison better, and point out the items bit-by-bit.

By the way, I got your T-track! e-mail me and we can chit chat.

And Rolf, I am always glad to help. This forum is my second most favorite of all forums (I am slightly partial to http://www.Clone-Empire.com) and people like you, Mike, Paul, and Seth have been so cool to me... and have shown me the way.

Troop-On!
