noodle3 Posted June 17, 2007 Share Posted June 17, 2007 Hi all, Here's my version of the Luke hero neckseal, if anyone is interested in a tutorial just ask. it takes about an afternoon to make in total. As for difficulty in assembly it's really pretty easy all in all. I've made a few of these so far & have learnt through trial & error the simplest way to construct it in the shortest time possible! the hard part is walking to the shops to source the parts. If anyone finds it undersimplyfied or overcomplicated please let me know, constructive critism is always welcome. Inventory: (1) 5 meters of foam/rubber, cord/rope, 3 or 4 mm in diameter depending on how long your neck is. (2) black canvas 115mm by 420mm. (3) black leather (thinner is better) 220mm by 420mm (4) black (one way strech) polar fleece 140mm by 450mm (5) black silk 430mm by 1000mm (6) black self adhesive velcro 25mm by 100mm (7) contact adhesive (bostick) (8) Glovers needle, lether thread, sizzors, pen, credit card & one free afternoon. Cut the final five length's in half. please refer the picture if needed. noodle3 Posted June 21, 2007 Author Share Posted June 21, 2007 lastly for the preperation we move onto the silk bib, fold the silk in half its length, then fold the fold in half, you should have all outside edges on two sides and both folded sems on the other two. with the sizzors 'nick the corner of the fold, this will give you the dead centre of the piece (where you head will fit through eventually) now lay the silk out and cut a cross into the centre, with the elongated part of the cross that will be on the back of the bib & will eventually attatch to the back of the neck seal. please refer to the picture in the link, as one pic can say far more clearly whats needed than I can manage at this time. also I would be reluctant to advise how large to cut the cross as we all have different sized heads so use caution here!!! http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u127 ... thebib.jpg prior to moving on to the assembly, if anyone has tip's or suggestions on improving this thread then please feel free to comment. I am going to make a new one very soon similar to this one but instead of putting the ribs on individually, I will sew lines into the leather collar and insert rubber/neoprene cord to make the ribs.
