I need to make a couple of these and want to get them right so I would appreciate any help! Cheers, -Paul

troopermaster
Thanks Paul, Will you be selling finished products/kits? I can only supply the complete mortar tubes if that's what you mean?

SethB6025
Oh, I didn't mean to correct you. 29" is fine, I meant that it was somewhere near 30".
TD-1536
I think 29in. is the sweet spot. No definitive proof, but it's worked for me on the 15 or so that I've made and mailed out.
oo-tee-dee!
How is it mounted to the side of the pack - tie-wraps?
TD-1536
How is it mounted to the side of the pack - tie-wraps? I use two long bolts - one at the top and one at the bottom. You can see in this picture Not seen in this picture (and what I do now) is rather than use regular washers, I use a two inch piece of plastic as a washer that the nut pulls against. This distributes the stress (if any is encountered) along a larger surface area, rather than just the hole. I then back the bolt with either hot glue, Gorilla glue or Devcon. This prevents it from coming loose... important if you permanently attach the top trays.
dirtydave
I mounted my tube to the frame.Looking at the screen caps in the gallery it looked to me that it's mounted to the frame?
TD-7012
I drilled holes in mine and used zip-ties to mount it to the side of my pack frame.
TD-1536
I drilled holes in mine and used zip-ties to mount it to the side of my pack frame. Zip ties are also a great alternative for attaching the Seed trays to the frame, too.
xeroroskk
i suppose it would depend on the person (and their pack), but i would assume that (in most 'western' country populaces) the mortar tube would be between 30 and 45 inches. however, in countries with shorter/ taller populace averages, the length of the mortar tube would also be concurrently shorter or longer. tk0872
I have a question about the diameter about the motor tube?
RoCKo
just take the inside diameter of the thermal detonator end caps that came with your armor. there are differences between TE(2) or any other makers like FX...
