ok where to start;

well first try to remember less than a mth ago i knew NOTHING about this(things havent changed much)i didnt even know MEPD or FISD etc existed i bought a set of armour over the internet thought i could slap a pauldon and pack on and ta-da sandtrooper :)

and to make it worse the armour was....rubies:( so many mistakes .

So heres the progress.

first i think you need to see the size difference this pic is shin the way i got it the other after trimming and heat treatment:

so all i can say is lucky it was an XL size so i can trim thge **** out of it but i actually started with the abs ,now i really need some feedback on them the rubies besides being crap to start with was not only storm not sand but inacurate ,so.... i built one from scratch:)

started by cutting out abs shape (from a sheet of HIPS)

post-5276-0-32701900-1354688389_thumb.jp

then cut out detail

post-5276-0-11916000-1354688718_thumb.jp

then glued them on

post-5276-0-33382000-1354688712_thumb.jp

then heat curve trim and sand and add to backplate via 6 rivets and on the other join ind velcro and the press stud

post-5276-0-24596200-1354688604_thumb.jp

because armour was so large i think i got well away withtrimming the rotj curved lip from around the body pieces

post-5276-0-88457800-1354688649_thumb.jp then started on the arms then legs i appoligize for lack of pics but this is wat ive got

arms;

Vince respect for not giving up even after buying terrible armour. I have been in a similar situation after buying tiny armour for my huge frame but got there eventually :) where are you located as I have some armor spares that might help you.

Hey Vince.

Welcome to the MEPD bro!

I am glad to see you make it here!

As said, you have made some great progress already. Going from Rubies to Sandtrooper is not an easy task, bug I can see youve got the skills and attitude in the right place! That is awesome...

So far, what I can see is that you are trying to go ANH. If I remember correctly, that is what you said over the FISD... Is that correct?

Accuracy is something we all strive for in a way or other. But then, there is "legion accuracy" and MEPD accuracy. LOL!!

I think you are doing very well already regarding the looks of many parts. The T21 looks fine, also the Back looks quiet close. A few things here and there might be needed for deployment (SWAT is a whole other thing).

I think that so far the only thing I would say is, consider the butt joint look for all limbs, I cant see it clear so dont really know if the strips are there or if they are only shaped like that. If you dont have it already, add the covering strips over the plastic parts so it looks right (shins, thighs, forearms and biceps).

Also, are you planning to paint all the armor to match whites? Or maybe rely on the weathering to make the ad plate blend into the rest of the parts?

Good work so far!

Saludos

Great work Vince, I was a bit like you I brought a set of troopable FX armour, then when it final arrived there was no way you could troop it, spending a lot of time fixing and correcting items on it. Looking at it now and I'm still working on it I would have been a lot better off buying new and making the whole thing.

Oh well lessons learnt.

Need out fit will be new thats for sure but there is no way I'm going to not finish my sandie.
