  1. Hi All, In collecting all my parts for my backpack build I stumbled across several vintage 2qt lids on eBay today. I just grabbed one, but if anyone else needs one here are the two affordable sales still up (I have no connection with the sales, just wanted to help a fellow TD out). $7.99 delivered and $6.95 + $3 postage One more part down on my own build!!! Still quite a few to go, but at least my frame is done and my trays are here.
  2. Here you go, mate. Bottom of the first post has a link to the templates as well as a fairly comprehensive list of materials just before the link. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=6618&hl=
  3. Lots of non-Star Wars costumers use tea staining to 'weather' whites and make them look like aged vintage fabrics. After the first soak & dry you can do it again or escalate with coffee grounds to make it dirtier. If you were worried about eventually wanting to clean up you might try a tea or coffee stain, as some bleach or Oxyclean and a good long soak would brighten things up again.
  4. Well... To be totally honest, your out in left field. LOL As you put it. The one on the right, is much more screen true, and the one on the left would be suited for a custom pauldron. Even dirty, the one on the right has the correct hue to it. Now the one on the right would need to be a flat semi gloss color, but I would surely stay away from the one on the left unless you are going custom. Just my 2 cents. LOL, it wouldn't be the first time I've been out in left field, I'm certain it won't be the last time either. I know I have the more tan colour on-hand (and black and white), maybe I'll shop around for the brighter orange.
  5. Gotcha! Thank you for that. Perfect! Thank you for that.
  6. This may be an odd question but here goes. I'm planning on making my pauldron and I know that bright orange vinyl is the standard, but I was wondering if a slightly faded colour would be acceptable. Especially as on-screen they read more "British Tan" than bright orange. I know this most likely wouldn't pass SWAT, but I think it would look very nice dirtied up, and would read more 'Screen True' than the actual bright orange does. Thoughts? Am I way out in left field here?
  7. Can I ask what it is about the the bottom side that won't pass? More for curiosity's sake than anything.
  8. Indeed! BTW: For troopers looking to go the 'Black Boots Painted White' route, Amazon has a really good sale right now on the Bass Amsterdam boots.
  9. Yeah. I use 1/2" dowels in my garden to support my tomatoes. I don't feel great about using it as the skeleton for a trooping BFG. I think I'll be using the amazing templates for pandatrooper's T-21 build. That thing is the bomb.
  10. It looks pretty good, but the 0.06 plastic seems like it would be a little soft to load a big heavy PVC tube barrel into it. I could be wrong though.
  11. Quoted for truth! I know I'm late to this party, but I've got to say that this build is dead sexy, and has convinced me that I need to make one of these as well.
  12. I really like the idea of randomized clips! Glad I've got a spare iPod shuffle sitting around
  13. Apparently it's meant for a European 40mmID pipe, and a 1.25"OD PVC is the closest we can get in the US, at least according to a thread on the FISD
  14. If I recall correctly it's 1.25"OD, which translates to 1"ID pipe.
  15. Hello, all. Newb here and one of the huge crowd of ANOVOS buyers who will be joining Vader's legions this winter. New to Star Wars costuming, but I've been a fan since 1977 when I heard the opening fanfare and read the scrolling intro. Our local garrison does some fantastic work raising funds to fight childhood cancer and raising spirits and I'm anxious to help out. So far I've sourced (in addition to my armour) boots (black, to be painted white), the new Disney E-11 to mod, the vox (ROMFx), and starting collecting bits for my backpack. Additionally, I'm a leather worker in real life, so I'll be making a pauldron or two or three until I finally decide if I want to replicate one of the as-seen-on-screen troopers and go for SWAT, or just keep mixing it up as a member of the PD.
  16. WANT! Edit: And the postman just dropped off a little something for me
