  1. Sorry, I saw the other post first. edit - So digging through lots of posts and using internet archive, I was able to find Sandtrooper. net which led me to https://web.archive.org/web/20020927231419/http://sandtrooper.freeservers.com/ The names that reoccur are Joe Musso @TD5374, Joey Beck @bamatrooper , @SethB6025 and TD0013. It appears that before it was Sandtrooper free servers, it was a Yahoo group. Looking at threads in here, another name comes up, but I do not know if they are MEPD, the name is BraksBuddy. All MEPD stuff appears to have be transferred over from that person to Joe Musso. To make this official on php instead of yahoo board. It looks as though the Yahoo group died when it was brought over to the php platform. There is mention of it being in 2001. In this thread @Rolf also mentions in the thread that he has been a member of the 501st since 2001. I do not know details there. So if any of the previously mentioned members are still around or you can contact them, you might have better info. All I have is this. The quote on a trading card - who it came from I do not know. It is just the standard card. I also have my own stack of them and they are the same. The second is a quote I pulled from either here, or I may have pulled it from another page. The quote is similar. The only difference is the use of “oldest” and “first”. I had been writing up a document around 2013? I forgot the purpose of it though. “It was founded in 2000 and is one of the oldest detachments in the 501st legion.” - found on an old and new trading card. “It was founded in 2000 and is one of the first detachments in the 501st legion.” - pulled from either here or the other site. See following information. The page I pulled the quote from might have been be a personal webpage by a Sandtrooper , from when I was working on my build (this would be 2011-2012) I recall that there were images of the different helmets, specifically there was the Oakley helmet. Don’t know if that helps jog someone’s memory. I also recall that maybe “Sarge” was featured on that page, because there was a remark of “oldest member of the 501st is a member of it’s oldest detachment”. Unfortunately the background color of the page was orange/beige and black text. So that doesn’t narrow that down. If you want me to try to find the page, I might be able to find the hard drive from three PCs ago and search for that document. It may have the info buried in it. But it is doubtful. Also It has been posted on “our “ main page for as long as I can remember. So I am not sure why it wasn’t brought up if that information has been incorrect for all these years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://www.mepd.net ”Our History The MEPD began in late 2000 as a small group of Sandtrooper costume owners hoping to become the official Sandtrooper Detachment of the 501st Legion. That wish was fulfilled in early 2001.” Edit - so even if I am wrong with the 2020, our own page would indicate that 2021 is our 20 anni. Edit - removed remark about geocities page - I think I only stole some images from it that were reference images of Sandtroopers and not the page I was talking about. Edit - Noel Green aka Bluey and Daniel Carlton aka Skutch, are two of the older former MEPD members I know of who are local to me. But they have both “dropped off the internet”. They would have been able to answer questions, but Noel had been trying to disconnect himself from everything internet and smart phone. I last saw Daniel in 2019. I will try to reach Daniel. (Just sent Daniel a message over on our garrison’s forum) edit - Is it possible to see the “history” of the front page that we all are quoting? Like the various edits, to see when that mention of EZ boards was written?
  2. Nope. Level 1 - Plain old sand trooper. Pack not required. Level 2 - Pack required even if the trooper does not have a pack on screen. Level 3 - Cannot be level three unless you have been approved for level 2. You cannot jump from Level 1 to Level 3. This is why I am still plain old sandy. If I want to be PO (Level 2)- even though Captain Roadblock V2 has no pack, I still have to build a pack. Pack is required in order to be approved for P.O. (Level 2) In order to be SWAT (Level 3) - I would have to have the PO designation first. So I would still have to build a pack, because in order to be SWAT (Level 3) you have to have completed and be approved as P.O. (Level 2) This was how it was explained to me.
  3. I got all excited when I saw the thread was bumped. Then I saw that we still dont have any 20th anniversary merch. :/
  4. We are back from Speed Week at Bonneville. We did super amazing great. (Set a world record that might not be broken for a while). I may run next year. While out, I brought my little Sandy and Dewey along for pictures.
  5. Is it? It is. The MEPD is the oldest detachment in the 501st. The MEPD is no longer a teen. The traditional anniversary gift for 20 years? China. The modern gift? Platinum. The number one song of 2000? Faith Hill’s “Breathe“. Are there any plans for like a super cool patch? Hope this post finds everyone safe and in good health.
  6. Super. Congratulations to everyone.
  7. I use old fashioned AquaNet hairspray in the purple can. The weathering on My boots has held up to the wet grass at Balloon Fiesta. I also use it as a fixative for touch ups. And it can be washed off. It never failed my big hair in the 80s, when it rained or snowed.
  8. I don’t know if you could get it down to 2 kilos. The toilet siphon weighs about .3 of a kilo. The frame, depending on what you end up using may weight a kilo. I know a few of our garrison members that do have PO status, but do not wear their pack at troops. Bluey, a former member here and of our garrison and one of the people who created SWAT. I saw him wearing a pack maybe once. Im not sure about how others do it.
  9. Depending on materials used to build the pack, 10-15 pounds is accurate. I feel you though. I have spine issues and cannot wear a backpack for very long. I am plain old Sandtrooper for however many years now.
  10. A pack is required for PO (level 2)In order to go SWAT (level3), you have to already be PO.So, If you wish to go SWAT, and choose a character with no pack (like Road Block Captain V.2) , you still have to have a pack, because you cannot go SWAT until you have been approved as PO. And in order to be PO, you have to have a pack. But you do not have to wear the pack. You cannot go from Level 1 to Level 3. You have to go in order. If you could go SWAT without a pack, I would have already done this years ago.
  11. If they were stored on Photobucket - they are no longer able to hotlink images. Photobucket changed their free accounts around a year ago and now no longer allow hotlinking, unless you pay their ransom.
  12. It was probably the waxy finish that kept it from taking the dye.
  13. Read my edit Wool shrinks in hot water.
  14. edit - looking through all of the information on it - I believe it is cotton or canvas tarpaulin fabric. It MAY be dyeable. But it has a finish on it which makes it water repellant. Is the texture waxy?
  15. I thought they were going for basic approval.
  16. I thought you were at T4T in 2015? That was when we had quite a few sandies. Noel, Johnny, Myself, Tye and I thought you? No?
  17. Yay. I got it right. I follow that thread because I keep forgetting where it is. Had you not mentioned screenshots - I would not have figured it to be that one. I don't know who put it all together - but it is super clean and organized. As an example to show someone what can and cannot go together - I went through the effort of making them paper dolls. It helped the individual visually connect to what I was explaining. Showing them the print out and online the images of the different TDs just didn't seem to be working. But making them into a little paper doll - the lightbulb went off in their head. If you are going to get back to work on making new updated versions - make them neat and tidy (in case I need to make another paper doll )
  18. All of my DRG patches are Sandy Patches.
  19. I think that Pandatrooper's pics should remain the standard. Because there are people who are still referencing them, or may have them saved. They have helped me explain the breakdown of the different TD's to someone still building their TD (I blame Kylo Ren for this persons delay of a year ) Unless there are SWAT ones missing from his images. Unless the @Plainsrunner is asking for the thread with all of the screenshots and close ups went -
  20. I don't have any, but I can help you with the name of the style of boot is called Chelsea.
  21. One of my favorite troops is the "Home Depot Kids Safety Troop" - I always go straight for the kids bike safety course. FTR - I do ride my regular bike in armor when we have been out at El Mirage and in the neighborhood.
  22. I think the Northern Darkness Garrison covers the Lake county area. Northern Darkness Garrison http://www.ndgarrison.com/ The other garrison I think is also closest to you would be the Midwest Garrison. http://www.midwestgarrison.com/ I would contact them as they are local to you. They can probably find someone close to you to help you out. Maybe even have an armor party. I'm not sure who here might be a member.Speaking from experience, cutting and assembling your armor by yourself without any help is frustrating and daunting. I just kind of figured you were in Hammond from your email address. I would contact their CO, XO or GML http://www.ndgarrison.com/contact.php Joining their forum might also be of benefit, as you can get quicker help and in person probably. You will also meet your future garrison members. Some garrisons have a Facebook group where they help incoming members.
  23. Could it be a medical pouch? A German one on a belt. You have to scroll down http://quanonline.com/military/military_reference/german/belt_buckles/gmedic.php A Swiss one from WW2
  24. Woah. Would it be possible to give me the entire message and not just the line you have quoted? Or any other info that came with that?. So I can share it on the LotL forum. I had recommended TK boots recently.
