  1. Thanks for the reference diagram. I bought the same board from ebay but mine didnt include a cable. I will get one and dissect it to see how it matches your diagram. Super helpful! Cheers!
  2. Just another quick question but how is the switch wired to the USB cable? Difficult to do or fairly straight forward? Bought one of those units after I read your post. Like the idea of using the real switches to power on the chatter files.
  3. Thanks Lee for the pleather tutorial! I was going to ask how you got it to look so nice. Mystery solved! Great idea and I will be sure to try this on my radio soon. I just need to locate some sticky backed pleather here in Japan. I thought you nailed it on the second try of the strap handles, sorry I said accurate enough. The newer photos you posted do show a smaller opening and the outlining rectangle around it. Nice investigative work. Waiting o see the newer handles when you get them made.
  4. Looks very accurate! Nice work on these parts !
  5. Thanks. The RS site sounds like they found an original item and used that for reference. If it is just Tooper1 's then that makes choosing one a bit easier!
  6. To add to this, does anyone own an RS props Pauldron? They say on their site they used a pattern traced from original motorbike padding . Looks good. How does the RS Pauldron compare to the the other two?
  7. Thanks Steve for your input. I was beginning to worry no one has seen one these and getting a form of opinion was going to be difficult. Sent another message to RS and they sent me some pics of the raw kit. Looks great but not sure if the Doopy DLT-19 captures more crisp details. Thanks again!
  8. Maybe he would be interested in allowing it to be casted or at least measured , digitally scanned, or whatever possible .
  9. Does anyone own a fully finished DLT-19 from RS Props or has purchased one in kit form from them? If you have any photos or comments please let me know. I am interested to buy one of these but without seeing some photos first I am a bit on the fence. RS kindly answered my initial info request but I haven't heard back from them regarding the photos. They seem to be extremely busy at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated especially photos of their DLT-19! Thanks.
  10. I bought my RS kit back in 2012 and asked to have TD parts included but they never said they would add them and they were not included when it arrived. There were other issues at the time I had to sort out with them so I left the TD request as is. They may have changed what is included since. As suggested, just ask them.since last year I think, Andrea is their new PR worker, she is super friendly and helpful. RS has improved on their customer service.
  11. Scott, amazing work on everything done in your build. If you ever get hold of another real vintage syphon and wish to sell it, please let me know! Your work on the syphon is fantastic . Looks brand new withe the black coat of paint! Also if you have the exact buyer or shop from ebay where you bought your 125 mm sanding backing disc, an you let me know? I looked a lot but couldn't find any like yours. Nice find! Can't wait to,see the pack all finished. Super pack!
  12. Looks awesome! The extra details are a nice touch and make the blaster look real. Good luck building a happy version. Hope to see you start that build soon!
  13. Thanks Brian for suggesting 123 design. I will give a try soon. Just watched a few you tube videos and it doesn't look as daunting to learn as the old CAD stuff I saw back in high school.
  14. Super! Makes me want to learn more about CAD drawing and 3D printing. Great job on both the radio and cylinders.
  15. Yeah!. That's what I always thought! Nice pic! Gonzo is an imperial spy!
  16. I have the old vintage canteen and the tops you made look spot on. Very impressive work Gary!
  17. If they shipped cases airmail, I would have already ordered one but paying for a shipping container is above my normal cash flow. Glad to see people already on the lookout. The company just recently attended a huge expo in Hong Kong. It's promising that they still produce the canteens.
  18. After lots of research and stumbling over all sorts of strange online shops, I found a company in Indonesia that makes canteens exactly like the Gio Style canteens posted on this forum by another MEPD member.( sorry forgot his TD number) Canteen: http://www.lionstar.co.id/product-view/1424?lang=en Contact info: http://www.lionstar.co.id/contact-us I am in possession of three of these vintage canteens and plan on making casts at some point but for pack builders like Quartermaster, Dirty Boy and Crashmann, etc. this will turn out to be an expensive add on to their packs and anyone else wanting one compared to the faucet covers. If casting them turns out to be the only option I will try to keep the cost of the canteens as low as possible but if the supplier I found is a cheaper route, then hopefully everyone can benefit from this. I have contacted the company but they are not the quickest to reply to inquires. I had to send a few messages before they got back to me with information worth sharing. Since they are producing these canteens, they only sell them in large quantities. 24 canteens per case and I think it was around $2.50~$3.00 per canteen, but prices may have changed a bit since the last time they mailed me. Another catch is that they ship these cases in large 20ft. Or 40 ft shipping containers all over the world. So if you only want 24 canteens , then you have to pay the shipping cost of one of these container sizes. I am located in Japan and they quoted the cost at around $300.00 just to the port of Osaka, then it would need to clear customs(probably some import tax added) then shipping costs to my door or some pick up location near Tokyo. I would have to order a lot of canteens to make the whole deal worthwhile and cheap enough for people to afford. One other concern is that I never dealt with this company before and wiring a bunch of cash to an untested source could prove risky not to mention where in the world would I store a few hundreds canteens? I don't think the demand for the canteens would justify purchasing that many canteens that would be piled to the ceiling for gosh knows how long. The company never answered me when asked them to send a sample to inspect which I said I was happy to pay for. Perhaps some members here might have sources in Indonesia for coordinating the sale of these canteens or a middle man to get the ball rolling., I thought its best to get this information out there for the greater good of the Sandtrooper community. If no one can follow this up, I will do my best to get these canteens available to you all. Worse comes to worse, I will start casting my vintage canteens but that is not such a bad option I would hope. Let me know if you have any questions or ideas. My wish is that these canteens are made available as cheaply as possible if we can get our hands on them. The newer canteens from Lionstar are called the Hunter Series and the Gio style canteens were from the Safari series. Probably the company acquired the molds for these products and just mass produce them all over again. I think the 600 ml size matches the screen bee stinger best but then sometimes the 1000ml looks like a fit too. I have found a few places on line who sell the 600 ml canteen in Egypt, Pakistan and Malaysia but they never respond to my mail so I am guess they do not ship internationally. Sorry, massive post but lots to divulge. Hope this information helps. Best of luck!
  19. Beautiful baby girl! Congratulations! A Star Wars fan in the making!
  20. I felt the same way at first but decided I will have to sets of armor at some point. Still working on my TK but I slowly started to buy all the components for the backpack so no going back now. Might take me another 2-3 years to buy another set of armor but it will happen, then I hope to join the MEPD ranks. Once I decided to go TK, then I had the which armor do I buy dilemma. No end to all these fun choices.whichever you choose it will be fine. Both are awesome. If you order a set of armor and can get the Sandy parts on the side then you can further your put off your decision and at least you will have armor in hand! Sorry my post probably doesn't help up you choose but just thought to throw my experience out there. Not sure what the general attitude toward staying basic but I would hope that is fine.
  21. Nice find Ian. Not an expert but they do look really close if not the same type used. Great find! I would love to own one of these. If you find more and want to sell one, mail me for sure! Keep me posted. And thank you for posting the canteen on ebay. The seller made me a good offer to buy instead of bidding. Hoping to get some molds ready to open them up to the community.
  22. I bought it. Had to have a green one too. Post pics when its in hand. Hoping to make resin casts or rubber casts in the near future. Still working on my TK. When that is done I will begin making a mold of one of the canteens. Studying how to make whole casts that are hollow or 2 separate hollowed out halves. Light weight and easy to ship. Plus less cost for the materials. Stuff in Japan is not cheap. Keep you posted when this starts to happen.
