  1. I think the "sandtrooper" in Battlefron has an ANH helmet but ROTJ styled armor. The new Magma trooper has ROTJ styled helmet and armor.
  2. Since this trooper is seen on screen he is eligible to become a Legion costume. But being that these troopers are from the Special Edition, the armor is different from the original TD armor. The backpack is also different. The armor is based off of the Return of the Jedi armor and helmet. Do you have ROTJ specific armor? You could modify an existing set appropriately or get a set of specific armor. There are two makers that I know of who this set. You might have to do some research for the SE backpack. I don't know of anyone who has made these specific TD's but they certainly are unique in their own right. Contact our Detachment Leader "Dirty Boy" for more guidance and coming up with a CRL. Good luck!
  3. Yes... Try to emulate what you see on a screen trooper.
  4. I trimmed mine a little higher just in front.
  5. I think pack will become the new SWAT level detail for the Move Along captain.
  6. Could your thigh armor be too big? Do you have pics of you in armor?
  7. I used Rustoleum Matte clearcoat. I sprayed from far away so the topcoat dries with a gritty texture. I like how the armor feels to the touch.
  8. I thought that some of those sandtroopers in the Tunisian desert were from the Tunisian army. I remember reading that somewhere. Perhaps the Davin Felth characters was one of those men?
  9. That's a great looking blaster! The extra detailing really brings it to life!
  10. I believe that trooper1 supplies pauldrons to RS. I remember seeing him reply to someone in a thread here (or maybe FISD?)
  11. Thanks for the info Rick! I have a pack that Quartermaster built for me and wondered if it could be an easy swap.
  12. Do you think the faucet cover can easily be swapped out for a canteen? My pack is already assembled and don't want to mess with it too much.
  13. I would take it apart at the rear. Use some tape as a guide to make a straight vertical cut. Then match up the other half. Make sure to keep the knee area narrower than the upper thigh to avaid the appearance of a bell. I hiow this helps a little!
  14. Maybe we can supply the link in the CRL. I know a lot of us take building seriously and explore as much as we can. (I really enjoy that part of the hobby even if I don't follow through with a build) It becomes problematic when you get a prospective member who applies for membership and hasn't done every bit of research. Or they believe an eBay ad that describes armor as "501st approved". I know its not the Legion's problem but we get left to tell the prospective member they can't join up yet. I'm all for eliminating the FX... I just want to be able to show prospective members why the FX is not acceptable.
  15. Eric... Maybe you should include a photo of the FX next to any statement posted publicly. We in the Legion know what the FX is but an outsider who might have purchased armor through eBay doesn't know the name or can't see the differences between the FX and a more accurate helmet. Maybe a side by side diagram to illustrate the differences.
