  1. Hey hey all! Been a minute haha. I am thinking of trying my hand a making some pauldrons, but was wondering if there is a pattern or at least an image of one flat from the top and basic dimentions anywhere. Dont want to start off all wrong haha. TIA!
  2. Nothing i can see now that i actually have the vintage one in my possession...just the cap!
  3. Has anyone tried to mold/cast one of these yet? If done correctly it can likely be cast to the same weight as the real ones, possibly even lighter. I know its not quite the same, but these are the closest to the ones used we have found and if there were casts available im sure it would help lots of folks out that dont want to wait, and dig, or would rather have a cast of this one than the one Gordon is offering. Just a thought... ...another thought.... if anyone has one they would lend me to cast, i would gladly do it and offer them at a reasonable price if its not already being done and i missed it.
  4. His look pretty much identical to me. Only the pattern on the cap looks different , but we dont use the cap anyways. I havent been on here in a while and probably would have grabbed one of his had i known he had em. But i paid $27 total for the vintage one so at least i didnt screw myself financially lol. If you dont have the desire to use the actual vintage one on your pack, id say grab one of his. They look to be from the same molds, even where the label goes is the same. I may still grab one of his just cuz i think they are cool lookin and may want to actually use it haha.
  5. Haha thanks Rolf, good to "see" ya, been a little bit! Thanks! It was the US E-bay, but item was located in Canada. I still cant believe i managed to not miss it lol. I saw a post somewhere yesterday saying that these always come up on e-bay, but man ive had this search saved for YEARS, and only one other time one poped up and it was super expensive . All the other matches were once in a blue and never the right model. So i dunno it still seems they are very hard to come by to me...hence my excitement lol I think what id like to do is take a mold off it, rotocast it and cut it up to make vac forming bucks....(theres more to it than that but you get the idea lol) I'd make it in 5 parts..top, bottom, and the main body id do in 2 halves, and then id make a stinger to cast as well. So then i can make them and not have to use a real one on my pack. Im likley going to make most of the pack parts myself since my vac table should be up and running by the end of the year if not sooner.
  6. This build is fantastic. I just sat here for an hour going through the whole thread..lol... great work man!
  7. I currently dont have a sand trooper anymore, but there is a good chance i will build one again, whether it be for display(ive gained quite a bit of weight :/) or for trooping im not sure yet but i will likely build another one I do however still have my RS TD helmet i built a couple of years back, which is my avatar i have had the Giostyle safari 600 canteen on my watch list for 5yrs now at least, maybe more lol. So, i got a notification e-mail a few minutes ago for this, which has happened before and was always the wrong model, but i checked the link, and holy crap it was the right one! ..and it was $12 buy it now!!! i snagged that so fast i didnt even know what happened LOL! here are 2 of the pics from the auction: i am so excited its ridiculous lol...this may the driving force for me to rebuild TD-6908.
  8. Thanks guys! Yea me too! Not that i was worried, Andy is a good guy
  9. I know i havent been on here in a while. Had to sell off my last kit before i even started building it. But my prop business is doing well and i was able to grab a new kit. The one i just got will be a standard shiny TK..[ i know i know...quit with the boos lol] but i have plans in the near future for a second kit to return to tattooine. Anywho..i thought this a relevant story for you fine folks here at the MEPD.....So this is my RS Sandtrooper "Move along" helmet that i built and painted back in Nov/Dec of 2012. Same one in my avatar I spent A LOT of time on it and really went all out on the build, down to the thickness of the black outlines on the traps..wonky mic tip mounting, wonky frown paint unevenly trimmed eyes, crooked front/back assembly to create the raised brow...everything i could possibly recreate i did. Pretty sure i have the build thread on here somewhere ) It is one of the items i am most proud of my work on. When i moved a little over a year ago, i had left my job thinking i was moving in June, and due to unforseen circumstances, we ended up not actually moving until October. So money got tight and i had to very reluctantly put this helmet up for sale. A freind of mine, and fellow 501st member of the Dune Sea Garrison Andy, TK-5224, devised a plan for me. He basically bought the helmet so id have the cash when i needed it, with the stipulation that when his sandtrooper armor came in, id build it for him, and instead of him paying me cash, he would return the helmet. Just yesterday, the helmet has returned home. Thanks Andy smile emoticon
  10. Before you do any cutting, pull the Ab/Cod up and see how it looks/feels. If the bottom of the chest touches the top of the Ab "rectangle" it should still be fine. If it covers it, it may be too much. What ive always tried to do on builds for other folks is get a happy medium. For example maybe you can pull up the ab/cod just enough so the chest sits right above the ab rectangle, even if you have a little spce between you and the end of the cod. I know a few girls who have done this. you can aslo take a touch off the shoulders on the chest to raise it a little bit, so in turn you can raide the Ab/cod piece. Play around with all the pieces involved and see if you can get it comfortable and to look right before you cut the cod off. I always feel like that just makes the armor look odd.
  11. Thanks guys...so since my cash flow is slow at the moment, what im gonna do is build my kit as a TK for now but with the ab buttons, shoulder straps, and knee plate attached so i can easily remove them. I will slowly gather all the stuff i need for the sandy and once i have everything, i'll convert it. At least this wy i'll get to troop the stormtrooper armor quicker until i have everything i need to do it properly dirty
  12. haha why did i think that everyone would say Sandy Well..i guess i have to start acquiring the other parts i'll need then! Jay i'll be in touch when i have some cash for pauldron I had yours on my last sandy and i'll tell ya, it was the best Jerry, the best! LOL ..unless you need any Fett items or paint jobs..id be willing to trade
  13. Thanks Pete! No not yet..still workin on it lol. I actually painted the shoulders and chest plate today. Still need to do the belt, drop boxes, backplate and holster..then everything will be painted and i just need to do the soft parts
  14. Hello fellow dirty troopers! Been a while! I have new armor on the way..and i was originally going to go standard TK, buuuuuut im thinking of maybe just going Sandy again because well, Sandy's are awesome and im too lazy to polish my armor lol. I havent fully decided yet, but i wanted to see what you all think
