  1. I think what you have stated is more or less correct, and I can understand if you look at it from a very black and white point of view. But keep in mind that 501st CRL's are canon and what the general public feels a specific character should look like. Most of the TD's in ANH had pouches and a pauldron, only one did not. This starts getting messy: if you watch the "new" SE versions, there are sandy / TK's standing in Tatooine with no pauldron or pouch but they are dirty! You could say the same about ANH: why do TK's "have to have" blue tube stripes on their helmets, but Mr. No Stripes clearly has no stripes? But the CRL states you must have them as a TK. That's kind of a one off example. All TK's have to have them because most do. Keep in mind that if you were attending an official 501st event, (eg: Rose Bowl parade or some LFL official event) you would likely need your TD to have pouches and a pauldron as per the CRL. If you are attending a con or other local event and your CO / SL says its OK, you could go in SWAT configuration and do the pauldronless / pouchless version. Don't get me started on the Biker Scouts and other characters that wear pauldrons at events... Remember that SWAT is not an official designation of the 501st, it's a detachment based level of accuracy. It's also just for fun.
  2. Onyx works fine. You need to mix the B part very thoroughly before mixing A and B together. If you don't stir the B it won't cure properly.
  3. Glad the tutorial is helpful. Hawk eye: mine was HIPs plastic but the same technique will work for ABS. My suggestion would be to wash the armor with dish detergent / rinse / dry first before weathering. This will remove any oils and wax and the paint will stick better. Make sure to use quality artist acrylic.
  4. I think I found most of the same info mid last year. The Stop That ship! Trooper is also the "tracks go off in this direction" guy, Cantina captain and Door knocker and alley checker and tuck and roll guy. All using slightly different combinations of pouches, pack, wrapons etc. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=6769&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1
  5. The AM kit is more idealized. The thumb print on those is not really correct / accurate anyways.
  6. I didnt paint my HIPS armor. Just a quick polish before weathering.
  7. AM build thread with massive amounts of trimming. For the kidney, I removed a section at the bottom as its hidden by the belt in the back. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=10434&st=0
  8. Maybe Marco armor and helmet? Fits the time frame. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/imperialfanMarco.htm
  9. Great news, hope everything works out for you Rolf!
  10. According to an owner of an actual Sonix radio, there isn't any backlighting.
  11. Install it in the scope of an E-11. FPS style!
  12. Not entirely true. Before sealed bearings came along, old school ones used a bearing seat like the one shown, with "loose" ball bearings held in place wurh a stamped sheet metal race. These were commonly seen and used on old machine parts, axles, bicycles etc.
  13. Love this initiative from Lucasfilm for "Use the Force for Good" to support Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). Great video too! I officially love Emma Stone. Don't tell my wife that. Bill Hader as the Tauntaun is the best!
  14. I'm hoping when Friday comes around that someone can take some high def. Screenshots of the TD scenes like the ones on the Look Sir Droids website. Unfortunately I only have a PS3 for blu ray movies and my computer does not have a blu ray drive. I'm sure it will help greatly in our search for sandy details!

  16. This is awesome! Someone better start a Marvel one soon too, so I can join.

  18. Kirby, these are quite short and the grip is smaller than standard size, and they are quite dim in terms of brightness. You'd get a much brighter saber if you built one from scratch using a Luxen rebel LED / soundboard from the Custom Saber shop.
  19. There's Vader stuff that often sells on the RPF.
  20. Yes. If you use heavy duty velcro its enough.
  21. No, the back is a butt join but there is a cover strip glued on one side. The outside. This creates the illusion when they are closed that there is a cover strip over the seam.
  22. On non AM armor the cover strip is glued on one side on the outer shin http://www.whitearmor.net/fisd/Tutorials-legs
