  1. Mine is just a few pieces of foam padding. Heck, even the frown is just held on using blue painters tape. Do I want it tricked out? Sure, but as the kids get older it seems I have less and less time. How did that work out? :-p
  2. Wow, that is beautiful. Love the graphics on the switches.
  3. That's a pretty good idea. I'm sure you can rig something that goes through the O-11 of the back plate. The hardest part would be the weight - even if it was evaporative (e.g. ice turning to water) it would be heavy.
  4. I don't believe any of them were 501st - so if there are garrison logos it's something I never bothered looking for. I could be wrong...
  5. Hey Tom - it's been awesome having you hear and I'm sure once fortune smiles on you again MEPD will be waiting with open arms to have you rejoin. I think we've all had life issues of late - some harder than others - so your situation is certainly one that resonates.
  6. Beautiful - I can't think of another way to say it.
  7. I hereby volunteer to be the first GML of the newly minted 501st Slave Leia Detachment. Rebel my left foot, she's a bad, bad girl
  8. Anytime Snoop with a light saber is shown, it will be cool. Nice
  9. Man, I'm abashed I'm late to this party :pint1::pint1::pint1: Have a good one Noel! Best wishes to you man
  10. Right on James. No matter **** and back, I'd *never* abandon my children.
  11. Sorry to hear that bro - at one point he was considered reliable and I'm sorry it's not longer the case.
  12. Hang in there Rolf! You are right that the child should always take priority. My friends said you basically go in to a cave for a bunch of years and they are right. You cannot have it both ways - party and kids - something gives. For you, the #1 thing is to be strong for your son. He needs a man in his life and someone to care for him. With her gone, that means you. This hobby will always be here later if need be. Raising a child alone is tough but can be done. Honestly it's best she go than stay reluctantly and fight all the time. Kids need stability and love, and if she cannot provide it, best she's gone though it's a hole in your heart. But it will heal. Learn to invest in your relationship with your son. It's hard to imagine now, but time will fly fast and soon you and him will be doing all kinds of cool boy stuff together. Just a few years to wait - it's a small price to pay and goes fast. Chin up my friend - life will get better soon.
  13. For the first - I wonder if it's his shoulder bell strap that came detached. We see a few troopers with very droopy shoulder bells it seems.
  14. Where were you when I was starting out? I'd have bought one from you bro! It will also depend on what tools you have and supplies, and what your time is worth to you. I spent almost two vacation days running around finding parts, painting, running to Home Depot to get that one thing I didn't know I'd need etc. While I felt it was a great achievement in making my own the first time, I'd never make another, esp. with young kids I'd pay more in daycare than it would to just buy a completed one. :-p
  15. I wear my pack on almost all troops. The only time I've made exceptions are: 1) Rose Parade (LFL Event) - they specified no packs 2) When the event is in very tight quarters and we're inside, e.g. Pottery Barn Kids, some comic book stores 3) After a bunch of hours and I want a break. Then I'll de-pack for a bit, then put it back on after a rest Otherwise, I can't imagine trooping w/o the pack - it really is a definitive part of the costume and ******* it (and the advil involved) is part of the feeling of satisfaction that one is doing more than others to look good
  16. I was watching it after standing in line for a loooong time, in Chicago, where I was born. I was 9, and as it was 2 days after my birthday it was a b-day treat for us to go.
  17. Strange. I haven't found it. Perhaps you can point it out to me.
  18. How is that unfortunate? The thread was going off the rails - you'd do the same here if the same members who got riled up over there got riled up over here. I'm surprised that since they are members of both forums, that they chose to get in to a bit of a baiting war there but refrain here. Gino was banned on FISD for very bad behavior. He was banned here too for awhile. Perhaps Gino may find himself unbanned on FISD in the future, so we'll watch the behavior and see.
  19. Yeah, I had to lock that thread on FISD. I'm glad I didn't spend $100+ for the disk, and sorry for those that did. The point was made, move along...
  20. That was when my garrison did like 6 troops a year. Continuing... Last troop in the FX kit. In front of the Police station - get it? New TE2 armor as MEPD XO with the former MEPD XO Trooping with my garrison mate Brian - who went sandy & MEPD with me (and Kav) back in the day. Nothing better than trooping with a good friend and dirty bro. Quite a change from our first troop as sandys...
  21. Most were posted a long time ago. Here is my 5 year journey, almost to the day. Yes, this qualified for Legion acceptance in 2005 for a Stormtrooper. In some garrisons, it does still today. Replaced that FX bucket with AP, and going Sandy! Yeah - I'm a 501st approved Sandtrooper (note the ab plate which is still OK for 501st acceptance) Going MEPD - 'cause not doing so is just a shame Requesting Deployment Early troops from 2006
  22. You always have the best replies
  23. I can't compare with Rolf, Mike, or Gordon, but here are my pix: This is where I started (I'm left-most) I could put that FX suit on in 5 minutes by myself it was so dialed in - ah the power of ABS armor and snaps! I also like this as it was great to meet the man if you know what I mean, and have fun doing it. Best troop of my life for that reason. And with this, I hit 2000 posts. And, on my birthday no less. How cool is that?

  25. I agree. A real dream is having Pablo's blaster core in them too. Pricey, but if you enjoy this hobby over the years perhaps not so much.
