dutchy
Sjeesh hermano, I really like all the work that you have put into this project to get this great result. It is so much fun to do a build like this and a challenge for yourself too. Again, you have done a whopping great job on this helmet. kenthork
the result is amazing, love your collection, and only some "move along" nice The blue stripes were made by putting some painters tape in two parallel lines, and then drawing with pencil the curve lines. Finally with a thin brush I painted the lines. This was my first time with Humbrol and being used to the super smooth and thin Testors, working with this thicker paint was a bit difficult for me at first. I made a mess with it. ****!! The blue paint was all around and the painters tape was not the best option for masking. I was very very angry. I'll probably use this technique when I'm at this stage, what can you recommend for a best result possible, an alternative to masking paint tape? or it was yours with not too good quality? in any case having recovered from the white paint on blue is not seen at all. THX bro!! Well... It was a very poor quality painters tape. Not cheap, just poor quality. The brand was Scotch. I normally use other brand but last time I got that one. I think whenever I paint blue stripes again I would go as in art school, use Scotch's magic tape. Or at least a better painters tape. It should work better I gues. Thats the whole trick Here are a picts of the process. These is after correcting with a bit white. The stripes are still too wide, I corrected them later: And this is detailing the Hovis: I am still not 100% happy with the stripes, with three of them actually. So I will correct them later tonite or tomorrow... Saludos.

RoCKo
WOW, i don´t know how i missed this thread! You did a amazing work, Juan! Everyone who ever did a handpainted bucket knows those stripes are a pain in the a.. to do. I messed mine also a little but after all those screenused helmets were a mess too, so don´t worry too much, bro! It looks great so far! theGreatSot
I love your details! The hand painting looks great! I would suggest using electrical tape next time, as it gives a great seal against the helmet so the paint doesn't seep under it. I've never had a problem with it.. I messed mine also a little but after all those screenused helmets were a mess too, so don´t worry too much, bro! It looks great so far! Thx bro! Yes, the stripes were a pain down there but at the end it adds some character to the bucket, I like to think. I love your details! The hand painting looks great! I followed your advice and used electrical tape in a TK I am building for a friend and it worked way better. Almost perfect. I just need to practice a bit more. THX!! But that gives it just that little extra I think so too... Thx a lot bro. Saludos

iconoclasta_88
Finally! This is the 98% finished replica bucket. Just pending the maple leaf foam inside. So, here are a few pictures side by side with the real Move Along bucket (pictures from SW helmets site of course). And this is the finished look I will keep for desplay. So. What do you think? I am very happy with it! Saludos!
Rolf
Congrats from here bro, i like it! You should be very proud, and have very great! skills. It would be cool, to see you do a helmet from the ground. I mean this was all ready assembled, and not done like the stop that ship helmet. So it could be cool to see you assemble, it as the STS helmet too. And then replica paint it. But this one have been a great try out, to see if it works out, and it did. The tube stripes went a bit unsteady, maybe train then a bit, and you are ready to make a master screen accurate replica

Still a lot of room for improvements. Specially with the blue tube stripes. It was a very fun build and I enjoyed it a lot. It was very useful as learning and now I understand many things that will come handy in future projects. Even in a new replica build. So... lets keep making better and better props... this group rules! Saludos
Rolf
Your welcome bro. Love your trooper skills, and your new helmet here. I have assembled over 10 full suits + extra helmets, and i still learn something new each time. Maybe i´m just slow, and need to assemble 20 suits before i get it all right hahaha I have not try to make a 100% reply, i have only replica the Dave M helmet a few times. But never all the way, i have only taken the basic spots on it. Like the tube stripes, mouth, ears, and a few hdpe cracks etc. A big congrats from here, of your piece of art

iconoclasta_88
Well, after a loooooooong time in a box, my Move Along Replica is finally done. I used black acrilic paint to give the bucket's white paint an old dirty look. Then used burnt umber woodland scenics directly applied to the bucket and scrubbed off. Then applying another layer and so on. So... here it is. The weathering is a bit deceptive because of the light, but I will be taking some more picts soon. What do you think? Saludos.
