I'm going to be getting an ATA kit soon and was wondering, since it dosnt come all glossy and white like ap or fx does anyone thing the weathering would look a bit more gritty with out the glossy white?

I asked "Mr. ATA" himself that very same question a few days ago and he suggests painting it white first. He says it would be too flat otherwise.

.....or you could try wet 'n' dry sanding it to a nice smooooth finish and polish

Billhag, how do I go about doing that? What type of sand paper?

Eric

I started off with 600 grit wet 'n' dry, then some 1200 and 2000. :)

Once all the parts were wet sanded I then polished every thing up.

Its hard bloody work but I'm happy with the result.

It reminds me of an old AP, not super shiney more like a dull gloss.

Here's the polish that I use, either one works just fine :duim:

Painting it first also gives you more control in making it dirty. I'd be worried the craft paints would "soak in" too quickly on unpainted HIPS. The paint gives you a barrier. B)
