TK9965
Troops, My name is Chip Childress (TK9965) and I just signed on to the forum today. I'm starting my sandtrooper conversion and I hope you can answer some questions for me. So far I have a pauldron, ab plate and knee plate. 1. What have you guys used for the backpack frame? Is there an existing frame that I could buy or is PVC the way to go? 2. As far as getting dirty, should I be a permanent sandtrooper or use paint that comes off if I want to be a clean white trooper? Opinions? Thanks
CMANavy
Welcome! As to your questions #1 I have not yet done my pack yet. #2 Why go back to clean?
SethB6025
Chip, there are a few methods by which to build a backpack, some with a frame, and some without. A PVC frame would be easiest if you chose to go that route, unless you can find a regular backpack frame that fits the specs. Once you go dirty, you won't go back. Really. But, if you're concerned about how permanent your paint job is, use either tempera, or acrylic craft paint. Either one can be removed fairly easily. Some have even used real dirt, which would also come off.
TD257
Welcome Chip...good to have another Midwest Garrison trooper in the sandbox. I used tempera paint not because I plan on going back to "tidy whitey" anytime soon, it's very easy and forgiving to work with. Can't help ya on the backpack frame...mine doesn't have one. RemoLocke
Welcome Chip. As soon as I get my armor together I want to get into the Midwest garrison as well.
