6170
I recently started to add snaps to my armo in addition to the industrial Velcro already there. After a few troops I notice that some peaces could use a little more help especially where the field pack pulls on the upper part of the armor. I was curious as to what everyone else uses to hold their armor together.... What do you use to hold your armor together?

TK-9135
Full Snap. I wont go any other direction. SO much more user freindly. I can break armor down to parade rest, pack in a smaller box and still have awesome hold power...
6170
Full Snap. I wont go any other direction. SO much more user freindly. I can break armor down to parade rest, pack in a smaller box and still have awesome hold power... Question, What do you use for you snap system? I am cutting ABS squares, drilling a hole in them, Hot Glueing the snaps to the armor AND then attaching the male part of the snap to thick elastic material. But I was thinking of instead of elastic of using leather or canvas. And for every snap there is a good sized peace of Industrial Velcro along side
Rolf
I pretty much did it like this. I got the sketch from RPF, and it should be used like that in ANH. The standard velcro black rubber are not good, on the e.g FX, AP. Too thin, and it flip off when you troop quick . I have buy a lot of black runner bands, in different sizes to the parts. I have then sew, a lot of black velcro on them. I can hop up and down, whit out no parts comes off. Here is a small sketch i did of the black rubber buy, and velcro sew to it. Sorry its in danish. Here you go .

TK-9135
Hot glue will fail if temps get hot, of moist. IE lots of sweat... I use the small square, drill a hole then attach the snap like it comes in the kit... Back and front of the Male. The female goes on the strap, the male on the armor. Straps I use are rubber as well, black car tiedown rubber, about 1 inch wide. Its smooth and flexable. Love it. Then glue the square with e-6000 or like that. I use a system like shown above in 252's post, and Stuka's build thread is awesome! I am using that for my TM build...
Trooper Peter
When I first acquired my armor, it was held together by rivets. When I did further modifications to fit me, I've substituted some rivetted parts with Snaps and reinforced some areas with Industrial Velcro. theGreatSot
I use just about all of the methods listed in the poll. I use snaps and elastic to join all of the parts to one another, E6000 to glue the snaps to the armor and for all of my armor gluing needs, and industrial strength velcro to close the back of the thighs. I also use nylon webbing and a buckle to make a garter belt to hold the thighs up. Oh yeah, rivets too... I use the rivets for attaching the left knee box and the canvas belt to the ABS part. I've also used rivets for the TK knee plate, but obviously not for the TD one as it would be a little out of place. I think that's about it for my description... dutchy
I used mostly industrial elastic band and some industrial pvc glue, similar to hotglue, next to a few inches of velcro and some snaps. I even glued the elastic band and it works like a dream. Riveted the knee box and glued the sniper knee and I am satisfied with the result. Everything is still in place and that makes me even more happy Would be kinda sloppy when you troop and things start falling off..
slave1pilot
Only Velcro I have on mine is on the backs of the calves.(except the black straps) The rest is glued together I do have snaps connecting the biceps to the bells, & the bells to the shoulder straps thighs have snaps connecting them to the garter belt Belt is riveted to the abplate, then snaps in the back Thermal detonator is bolted through the belt Knees are riveted as well
Scott M.
All of the above!!! Garter belt and parachute clips for the thighs. Velcro for the backs of the calves. Snaps non the crotch and belt, plus the shoulder bells and biceps. Glue on the forearms and thighs. I used rivets and screws on the packs, plus a little wire and other parts on the pack. Need it all!!!!!!!!
