I use a Hyperdyne and am very happy with it. There is also ROM FX, TRIK TOYS, and some newer options. I would recommend ROM FX or Hyperdyne myself. I am not hugely familiar with the other options, I just know those who have them love them. I have heard bad things about TRIK TOYS though.

Fans are a must! I have a fan kit made from Skullworx. I just bought another too for my other helmet.

Scot (Skullworx) is a great guy too. Kevin (Spec Ops DL) makes fan kits - just came out with a set, then you can add your own sound as you choose.

Depends - are you looking for a turn-key solution (buy it, install, done!) or something that requires a little labor?

With my schedule I would love a turn key system :o)

And I have found that in the long run its always cheaper to buy things at once

and his system sounds (no pun) like a good deal.

But here is a question

Do you guys prefer the speakers in the helmet or attached to your belt??

Yes, if you know how to solder, the little radio shack fans are very nice.

Here are my fans with power switches (one switch for each fan):

and my batteries (2 for each fan so they last longer):

Do you guys use fans in your helmets?

If so what kind do you recommend? I see kits on ebay for

38 dollars.

I offer a fully built fan system for $35 on the FISD and Legion boards...

Very quiet, good continuous battery life (4hrs), can use a USB rechargable battery pack (USB cable is included), and shipped price is under what other vendors offer. I've sold 28 systems and have gotten a lot of kudos from fellow troopers who simply love this system.

Doing it yourself, the cost of fans, wires, switch, solder, and battery pack from RadioShack comes very close to my asking price.

I've been looking for one too.

Triktoys has a couple options. Are these any good?

Skullworx seems to be sold out :(

yea while i would have liked to gone with skullworks

they are out and i want my gear to be up and ready by comic-con

unfortuntely for ever triktoys system i see posted there seems to be

at least one person that has had feedback issues (feedback at low volume is worthless at san diego comic-con) , etc with them, so i will pass on trik ( i am aware of the omi-uni solutions but even those with uni seem to be iffy)

i found this on TK 409's website and i am all but sold on them

http://www.hisonic.net/HS125.htm

They seem to be what the dr ordered, so far all i have heard is possitive things about this system

here is one review and i quote

"It is very LOUD. Putting this on my belt I can only turn up volume to 75% before I get feed back. Even behind my [trooper] chest plate 30% volume is more than loud enough. You have to add the static burst on your own. The Hisonic comes with a nice head band mic that has a formable wire frame that you can mold to wrap around the back of your head and the mic has a seperate formable wire to place the foam covered mic at your best spot. The amp/speaker unit holds 6 AA batteries and will allow you to recharge with an ac adapter. I thought this would make the unit some what bulky and hard to place. I found that the unit fits nicely behind the upper chest plate and I can use the enclosed strap to mount it to my chest from around the back and under the arms or around the stomach area. The strap is black with black plastic slips so it's easy to hide."

i will wait a few days and if nothing better comes along i will order this puppy since it would be super ez to mount the amp in one of my pouches.
