JohnQTK5122
Does anyone know who that seller is and what kind of helmet that is?
Terrell78
Maybe a TM recast, my eye isn't as keen as it should be. No one makes helmets out of 60 gauge but Gino, and those go for 5X what this guy is asking. Actually looking at his feedback, it's a recast. Daverian
Obviously the brow trim is gettable. Anyone know where?
runJEDIrun
aw man i just sold one a few weeks ago. I don't know where i got it from. I think maybe AP? That is a nice helmet though. Looks like an SDS recast of the s001 stunt maybe???
JohnQTK5122
How do you know it's a recast by looking at the feedback? I'm looking for a new helmet, but I'd rather not buy a recast, so I'd like to know how to spot one.
TD-1536
How do you know it's a recast by looking at the feedback? I'm looking for a new helmet, but I'd rather not buy a recast, so I'd like to know how to spot one. If I'm not mistaken, there were some threads regarding this person's sales on the FISD boards. He's sold a few helmets, many of which had tells of 'recast', such as pitting and orange peel, things you generally don't see on a AP, TE or TM bucket. I wouldn't begin to speculate it's origins or dubious lineage... buyer beware. As for the brow trim, I honestly don't know the exact type used. I'm sure Gino, Matt or TM knows... I've never thought about it because my helmets already had it, so I never needed to search for it. Here's some links I had, though... http://www.trimlok.com/ http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/ and this one I had bookmarked as 'brow trim', but I'm not sure which item... they have thousands. http://www.mcmaster.com/
Terrell78
How do you know it's a recast by looking at the feedback? Because he has sold 3 TK helmets in the last 2 weeks and this one would make #4.
Rolf
looks like a AP, but they are 80 gauge abs
runJEDIrun
i dont think AP helms have the really defined areas around the eyes like that one though. but lighting always makes things look different.
Daverian
...so nobody knows the exact trim used in the movie helmet? or where to get it or something similar? It looks like the botom part of the trim is thicker than the top. Almost wedge shaped...

To further complicate things, the trim provided on two TE helmets I bought from Matt years ago, each had different types of trim.
Scootch
I'm not sure how "accurate" it is but after searching the hardware stores and such I found some "camper weather stripping" at Autozone. It's a half inch wide and sticky backed and for the helmet I'm currently working on It's gonna fly. I can post a pic once I put it together but that's still a few days away. troopermaster
http://www.rubberlast.com/products/ These make accurate trim. BRS70 for the brow and BRS254 (4-4.5mm) for the neck. The neck trim looks to be the same as the old stuff I used for my helmets, though I cannot say 100% for sure, but it definately looks the same profile. The only problem is they sell by the roll

Daverian
After measuring a friends brow trim on his TE2 bucket, I found it was 5/8" high and was a rubber "U channel". like this: http://minorrubber.thomasnet.com/item/u ... ?&seo=110# does that look right? you would have to trim one edge down a bit to get that "wedge" shape.
