Bulldog44 TD (Anovos) Build 2019 (WIP)

Bulldog44 finally reporting in to start my TD build!  

After many years of procrastinating I am officially starting a build thread for my first TD.  Bought one of the first round Anovos kits for $350 but it sat in a box. Recently I trimmed the parts down and started to assemble a few bits.

Here is my intended order for this build:

1. trimming -done

2. biceps and forearms - in progress

3. thighs and shins/calves - in progress

4. shoulders - 

5. belt -

6. chest and ab plate (adding hardware/ 3 button plate) - 

7. strapping - 

8. knee ammo pack & diamond sniper knee plate

9. helmet - 

10. calves (strapping)

11. weathering

12. backpack - ?????

Hope to have more photos of my progress up soon. Please feel free to make suggestions or things I need to correct if I make a mistake.

Upper armor trimmed parts- Anovos helmet in background. 

 

 

Forearms- Both forearms nearly finished. Just need to trim cover strips and remove return edges near wrists and some bits near the inner top ends. 

 

Biceps- Both biceps near completion, need to trim off return edges and cover strips. 

 

Left Thigh- Not happy with this seam and alignment of the 2 halves. Attempt 2 in progress, pictured below.

 

I wasn't happy with the alignment and visible seam at the bottom of the left thigh and top edge. Removed cover strip and re-gluing it. No magnets left unused!  Looks a mess but hope it help it all in place this time.

Update: Attempt #2 failed. The cover strip shifted off center so I have started over again. This time I am going back to gluing one half at a time. Results to come soon.

Good grief! Its been more than half a year since I worked on my armor. Hoping to get this done in 2020. I will be making some progress soon with sanding down the trim edges and then move to some strapping. 

Backpack parts are pretty much all in hand except I want to get another nice Sonix radio kit from Tony when I get the funds. 

I now have real sterling parts and molds to make a basic E-11 blaster and then hoping to make some custom parts to make a Bapty version.

Hoping to revitalize my build and get it completed in the next few months. 
 

A few  quick questions I have is about the belt. The Anovos ABS belt plastic is very thin and wondering if I should switch that out for another makers belt. Also the canvas belt needs to be replaced. I intend to apply for a higher level than basic approval so would lien to know what canvas belt maker is best to go with. 
 

Besides the backpack build, pouches, pauldron & Bapty blaster here is what I need to source to complete the armor:

1. ABS belt?

2. Canvas belt

3. New helmet if I decide not to repair the Anovos helmet that came with the kit.

4. Diamond sniper plate

5. 3 button plate for the AB plate

6. Weathering materials 

I finished assembling all of the basic armor parts and just need to fix a few strapping areas, add the bra hooks/ straps to the rear of the shins, and add the bracket screws on the return edges.

For the weathering, i use this colors from Vallejo:

- tierra Earth

- chocolate brown

- leather Brown

- black

Thanks! I will check with him on those needed parts. I remember him saying he tried to match the Anovos ABS a few years back. 

Weathering will be a fun challenge.

Paul's parts are great. Everything very high quality. My two TD's are from Paul. Yes, weathering is a challenge. But the good thing about these colors is that if you don't like them, just wash them off. It will take a few days for them to dry out.

Here is where my armor kit at the moment. I need to do another test fit as its been a good while since I last tried it on. The ABS belt is way too thin looking so I will certainly be replacing that. 

Also noticed I need to re-check the marks for where I need to make holes for the belt buttons on the AB plate. 

The backpack is in progress and made up of all the parts I originally sourced many years back. I have newer parts to build a more accurate pack once the first pack is completed. I have a vintage Karrimor frame but not the most accurate in terms of the Move along pack. Also have the canteen, and real Shire 90 syphon and lunch box.   Need new accurate seed trays, exhaust port, radio and shotgun shells. Going to take my time getting that pack together when the armor is done.

Hey Brian, that's looking great already. Is the rest of the anovos armor also as thin as the belt? On the other hand, having a thin belt might keep it from breaking... 

We always recommend RWA Creations for seedtrays, Ross's stuff is great.

Thanks! The belt is especially thin but yes, the anovos armor is quite thin overall. My RS TK pvc armor has some thin areas but the anovos kit feels thinner or perhaps lighter. It has a cheaper feel in my opinion. But the details are nice and I bought it when they offered the first kits at $350 USD so I can’t complain too much. 
 

You might be right about the belt not breaking . It is quite flexible. Guess it just looks too thin to me. 
 

I will check out Ross’s seed trays. I am also looking for the best exhaust port part. I think the one I saw on Gino’s pack a few years back looked like he closet to the screenshots of that part. Not sure who offers the most accurate on that yet.

Can you post a pic ot the belt? I wonder what it looks like.

It's actually quite easy to build your own exhaust port, I have done that and documented it in my own pack#3 build thread, unfortunately, another picture hosting website has failed me and all the pics are gone. I have put so much time in these threads and I am actually fed up updating them, feel to lazy right now but I still have some pics and will post them here, just have to get to my computer to do that.

Edit: 

Here are some photos of the Anovos ABS belt. Very thin and light feeling. 
The rivet button covers were not easy to remove and you can see the damage I caused while getting them freed. Luckily the damage is not visible when the covers are placed back on top. I had ti reinforce the back side with some strips of ABS. 
 

Thinking I might try to use this belt and see what happens. Need to get a canvas belt now to attach it to.
