I used a handicapped sign that I purchased from Home Depot for $5. I wanted it to stand out so I used 8 layers! Once it was glued and sanded, I used white wood filler to ensure that the sides were all smooth. Afterward, I put 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of krylon fushion gloss white on it. I used a dremel to put imperfections on it prior to painting. What do you guys think?

Here's a pic of the same kneeplate. I used the brak's tutorial but found $0.87 acrylic paint at walmart (burnt umber, raw sienna and yellow urcher). I passed over it with some pump hairspray and then dusted it with some sand (from Kuwait). I thought it would look more realistic with real sand...what do you think...? or
