SkaTay
Greetings Troopers! I found a helmet which another trooper is selling but wanted the opinion of the professionals. I think it looks great but will it pass 501st standards? Police Officer standards? Thanks, Scott PS. I can only seem to upload 180KB of photos between all my posts. Any advise on how to upload more without making each picture thumbnail size?
Rocket
I suggest you start fresh, say a Geno kit from Walt's Trooper Factory for instance, that way you make it all your own.
Strider
The helmet looks allright but the ears will need to be slimmed down a bit.
Airborne Trooper
I've seen worse. Half the fun is doing it yourself though.
TD42115
I concur with Strider, it does look fine but ears need more trimming. this looks like a Geno helmet, AP or WTF ? can anyone clarify ?
SkaTay
I'm told it's an modified EFX helmet with ATA ears. Sorry I didn't put that in the original post. By trimming, do you mean it looks a little gappy next to the body of the helmet?
Strider
They are just too thick and look a bit out of proportion compared to the helmet. I think this is additionally emphasized by the weathering. The ears are a bit tricky to trim but it shouldn't be a big issue.
Fraulein
To get a nice close fit, I used a profile gauge to get the trim accurate.
mikelbrierly
Profile gauge! Genius! Where did you buy yours from Diane?
Fraulein
Hardware store should have one. The one I have, came from an auto parts catalog.
crashmann
I was checking out contour gauges on Amazon, and of course, reading the reviews to make sure I chose the best one.http://www.amazon.com/General-Tools-6-Inch-Contour-Duplication/dp/B00004T7RA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350406770&sr=8-1&keywords=contour+gauge Once I read the following review, it went into the shopping cart! Amazon has deleted the review. Thank goodness I took a screenshot for posterity! Charlie
Strider
LOL. Great tool but be careful what you use it for ;-)
