  1. Wow!!! Talk about sharp detail.
  2. it is lunch time, and I am hungry.
  3. I try, but this is really just a labor of love and all the stars aligned to allow me to finish this with good results. Not all my projects turn out so well. Also, because this initial run and the next half-dozen or so are made in white Urethane resin (hollow), once I run out I'm going to look into the possibility of tinting the material black before pouring. That way, if the face of the radio chips, it will just show black instead of white. EDIT: I just ordered a black tint from Smooth-on. All future radios will be made in black resin.
  4. Nice Beret action!! I love seeing the troops wearing them.
  5. Looks rockin'. BTW, I used to have long hair years ago. I bet trying to wrangle it up in the helmet is a pain.
  6. I bet you're right. Knowing me though, once I get to about the 30th one, I'll be sick of making them.
  7. Absolutely. I may provide them with the backs un-attached so that you can insert speakers if you want. Currently none of the knobs or switches are functional, so don't try and move them - they'll break off. How I build these will evolve over time.
  8. This is a project I've been working on for the past four months. I first want to acknowledge the help of John Sale who created most of the face panels and large dial as 3D graphics, then had them laser-cut in acrylic. I constructed the final radio model and all the molds, then spend about 4-5 hours making each radio by hand. It's truly a labor of love for sure. Special thanks to Don Coleman for helping with the white, water-slide decals to add that final touch. These radios are all accounted for. Sorry. However, I'll be moving in the next few weeks and once settled in the new shop, I'll try to crank these out as soon as practical. So please, no PMs! But save your pennies, I'm projecting a cost of about $150 plus shipping.
  9. I really like the badge!! Obviously you can't screen print them with everyone's ID number, but the badge alone on the chest would rock!
  10. My CO posted that on our board yesterday. Absolutely sick!!! But you know, considering the level of "cheap" electronics companies have squeezed into to the Hasbro Clone helmet and the Art Asylum Star Trek TOS communicator and Phaser, I'm convinced they could create an accurate, injection molded E-11 with all those sound features for less than $50.
  11. ok, I think I'm going to have to do that. I picked one up past Xmas at Target, use it for my pens.
  12. Dude, you nailed it. Even the dial and Sonix logo on the radio. sweet!!
  13. Mike Verta, eh? No idea he was involved in that. Regardless, he won big time by marrying the woman of all our dreams. Geek-Score +20!
  14. Awesome, fun pictures. Thanks for sharing!
  15. I'm sorry to chime in here so late, I've been detained by my own personal matters. Regardless, I'm really sorry to hear of your loss but it's wonderful to know so many have stepped up to help you in this time of need. I wish you all the best! BTW, Paypal sent. I hope it helps you and your family out.
  16. Both. And they'll always have to be cut up with a hack saw and bent in the middle.
