  1. When in armour and at an event i can see absolutely no reason why you would be hauled away for carrying a replica BFG by anyone. Getting to the event however is a different story. As long as you're carrying it in a bag or container of some kind you should be okay. The incident with the Aussie trooper appeared to be a catalogue of events leading to his arrest and although bloody stupid and pointless of the Police to continue the arrest and whatnot once it had been established it was a replica costume weapon i can see why it happened. It's only a matter of time till it happens here in jolly Blighty but i'm more than prepared to take the risk and take any BS the police and justice system try to dish out. Just take care when transporting anything that looks to the reasonable person like a weapon to an event.
  2. an old fashioed bicycle pump with all the workings removed is an option. a couple of the guys in my garrison have them on their packs and once painted up they look okay.
  3. That box looks like a mish mash of all sorts of bits 'n' bobs. You can also see what looks like scout chest armour in there as well. I dont think that is the gun your refering to. it looks like a rebel commando rifle to me, whatever that was called. I can tell you that whenever i see that picture i really wish i could have a proper good rummage in it
  4. great work Scott. It's coming along a treat. I wouldnt be too worried about bottle length but for my money the wet ones bottle looks much better than the other one. The cistern part when added to the burger stackers looks ace.
  5. Welcome Rob. make yourself at home. helicopters....coooool
  6. Well, what can i say, it's an honour to be picked for the role of sergeant at arms here at the mepd. I'd like to thank Mike for choosing me when he had a plethora of great people out there to choose from. this makes me feel doubly honoured. I think we can all agree the future looks bright and the ideas and plans that Mike has put out there are indeed exciting ones. While i admit i'm totaly hopeless at tech/computer stuff i'm pretty handy with my eyes and hands so will endeavour to input as much as i can with the skills i have. i'd just like to finish off by quoting the UKGarrison motto coined by its founder the late Graham Campbell "Lets go to work"
  7. Well done that man. and well done to Seth for his sterling work thoughout his tenure as CO. Some tough decisions there but well made ones for sure.
  8. Good to have you back buddy. i remember bumping into you and Guns at C4. I was gutted to miss out on the mepd photoshoot too as i was TK'ing. I definately dont think my pack would have survived the trip over.
  9. Hi Murphoid, you've come to the right place.
  10. looks awesome mate. Yeah, those old tube stripes are a pain. when i painted mine i just marked the spacing with a small dot and then with a coin that has roughly the same curve and a pencil i drew a light curved line and freehanded over it with a brush and humbrol. some of my stripes were wobbly and one or two were of slightly different thickness but that just adds to the character.
  11. wise words Seth, as always. and it's not like you're going anywhere so i cant be too sad congrats Mike and....MEPD RULES!!
  12. yup, thats deffo ROTJ. Maybe it was used for the SE or just labelled by a total ***
  13. s'looking good so far mate. you're certainly on the right track.
  14. well technically speaking its a ROTJ suit modded to look ANH with some parts mirrored i.e. shin and bicep pieces whereas TM is an original sculpt and captures all the finer nuances of the ANH suits and TE2 is also a modded ROTJ but doesnt have mirrored shin and bicep. AP is still a great kit mind you.
  15. TM, oh yes. it's a beautiful kit for sure
  16. you seek TE2. He's hiding aound here somewhere
  17. Poole hey? i'm currently stuck in Norwich. nice place but they're all a bit mad here. have you checked out the UKGarrison? that'll be a good port of call for any local help as well as this fine forum. www.ukgarrison.co.uk
  18. yer as mad as cheese but i like ya, you'll fit in fine round here. wlecome
  19. wotcha mate, welcome aboard. whereabouts in Blighty are you?
  20. Tell me what the difference between TE2 and TE is? Both are "cast from screen used"... **** the TE2 IS the former TE molds. What's the difference? I don't see any.there's one obvious difference. one is Matt and one isnt. okay, lets put it this way. if TE2 molds are the same as TE molds (which i know they are) then for TE to still be able to produce and sell helmets he must hav a set of molds of his own. now in my mind thats just sticking your middle finger up to the guy who just paid mega bucks for your supposedly one off molds of a screen used item. You think THATS fair? you think that isnt as bad as recasting when alls said and done? When have you ever read a post by TE2 that was slamming someone, crying blue murder about someone ripping him off or accusing someone of recasting his work or accusing someone of being underhand and dishonest. NEVER. TE2 is a mightily respected member of the community and i know for sure nobody here would EVER dream of recasting something that came from him. now i'm certainly not saying that Chris should have recast a TE under any circumstance but lets be truly honest here, i'm sure Chris thought that if anyone deserved to be recast it was Matt, purely because i'm sure he's dumped on a lot of people, Gino included. Chris should have known what would happen if this came to light but i guess he was banking on the hoards of Matt haters to jump to his defense. This is how i see it, i may be wrong. who knows? if Matt had sold his original molds to TE2 and never made another helmet again would it have been any different? again, who knows? all i'm saying is someones history and background in this community stands for something. positively or negatively. as for the 501st stance on recasting. i cant understand why a costuming club so dependant on artists supplying props and costume parts whether they be fan-scuplts or screen used casts, would NOT actively root out and expose/outcast known recasters. i'm still scared but i couldnt stay away, i need to feel something is being done to stop this horrible situation getting any worse
  21. Listen guys, what Gino is saying is actualy very important. i may have made light of it in my last post but his direct response to that and his subsequent posts actualy makes it quite clear. I for one would hate, absolutely HATE a rift to appear between costumers and prop makers. I crave quality props. i adore accurate looking items, i gladly and happily support the artists providing these items. i appreciate the dedication and effort that goes into producing these works. i would not knowingly buy a recast. i do my research and thus can avoid this. should i come across a recast i would share the information, i strive to make my costume as accurate and as good looking as possible and to do this i source products from known and respected artists. i cannot lie, to be told i may no longer get these items because i'm 501st or have been known to fraternise with outed recasters fills me with sorrow and weighs heavy on my heart. Lets be honest here. Its nothing to do with charters, it's nothing to do with a shift in our ethics, who here can stand up and say "yes, i absolutely support recasting. and no, i dont care if i buy one or not"? This divide could ruin everything we hold dear about costuming or collecting. All i know is this. i love this hobby as much as Gino, its more than a hobby, its an obsession. if i didnt, i'd drop this BS like a stone. i'll leave it with this. what would the decision have been had Chris recast TE2 and not TE ( and i'm not saying that recasting Matts work is okay by any means but it's a question worth asking) i'm staying out of this now. its scaring me a little
