  1. Ha, until they have a Celebration in upstate NY or in many years when my kids are much older and my life will let me, I'm not going to see a Celebration. Chicago sounds like an awful place to host this event. Big city, bad traffic, high crime, poor parking, and expensive hotels, no thanks.
  2. Well the doopy doos kit is a resin kit. I didn't know they had custom aluminum grips made.
  3. I'm not 100% but I thought the grip was made of wood and filler. I know the doopy doos guys just sand the resin to shape though.
  4. Decided to knock the dust off this sub-forum and create an official place for all WIP armor builds and help reaching Police Officer/Level 2 status. The Hurt locker has already been established for those reaching SWAT/Level 3. For anyone reading this and has recently opened their BBB and wanting to post their build, this is the section to do so! MEPD's Armorers are here to help!
  5. With TRU going out of business, I waited and waited but FINALLY pulled the trigger and bought the Radio Flyer Landspeeder for my kids. When it first came out it was $500!!! Way overpriced but then maybe 6 months ago or so they marked it to $250. Once TRU announced they were going out of business the prices began to drop every few weeks. Went by yesterday and it's now at $125! The manager said it will not go below 50% off until the final days but he doubts any will last that long so the wife gave me the green light to buy it. My kids love it and I have grand plans on making a Jawa family costume by Halloween so the kids will driving around the neighborhood in this. You'll need to go to your local store to see availability but here's the official page with all of the information: https://www.toysrus.com/product?productId=133530956&_br_psugg_q=land It's a two seater but my little one wanted to sit on the floorboard lol.
  6. That's not really what's preventing a run ATM. I was briefly a merch/branding officer for my garrison before and I can tell you, it's not fun juggling multiple merch runs at the same time. I promise you, @Gordonator is doing a great job and there will be some cool stuff coming out throughout the rest of this year. I'm sure this will happen eventually.
  7. What I would like to see is the Armorer/Ambassador section get a face lift and used for this exact purpose. I don't think it's necessary to create individual subsections per garrison/region/etc. though. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?/forum/55-ambassador-armorer-program/ @dutchy what do you think? It's kinda collecting dust at the moment.
  8. Wow, #4?! Well things have come a long way in 50+ approvals. I know the guys put you through the ringer. So glad you stuck with it and didn't give up.
  9. If you're on Facebook, join this group ASAP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/801444749866194/
  10. I'd put some velcro on the battery and mount it behind the fan bracket so it's out the way. I have that same microphone, What I do is take it out the helmet and do a test to check my levels. Most the time I have to hit the + on the mic itself to up it a few notches as well as get the volume right on the Aker speaker too. To make it more sensitive, check your settings on the TKTalkie app for your profile. You can make it very sensitive if you dial it in right. Don't breathe out your mouth or you'll make a static burst. I have mine where as soon as I say something at normal volume it activates.
  11. Ha, that's awesome! I think if I managed to get an aluminum head, I'd have to 3D print the rest of the body and do a cool paint job. A guy in my garrison has a black and gold droid that's really cool.
  12. I love my Army issued boonie cap. Since I was in the 82nd, we wore them while deployed while the rest of the non-airborne (legs lol) Army guys wore patrol caps. Not a fan of the legion one. We can do better
  13. Looks nice! The only difference between ours is that I sanded mine down to reduce the texture on the body of the canteen.
  14. Scott, check out this video and focus on the app portion of the video. He does walk through some of the adjustments. If I had to choose, I'd pick voice over chatter. BUT, I also run chatter through a mp3 board and Pyle amp in my radio. I have a wireless headset. I removed the little metal over the head bracket and applied velcro on the back of the transmitter. It velcros in place and I bend the mic arm and position the mic dead center around the frown. I've done an all day long con with no issues. I use the Aker 1506 with the mic receiver in the line in spot behind my chest plate. As far as mobility goes, I have a short neck. My whole body is short though lol. I'm short and round. Sometimes I take the wood block out of my shoulder pouch closest to my head and that helps a little. My helmet basically sits on top of my pauldron. I have my wife make sure everything is pushed down and tucked in like it should be after I put on my helmet. Some people have the perfect body types and mobility is not an issue. But for the 95% of the rest of us, we all have some issue where mobility is a hindrance at least at one spot.
  15. Wow, that looks nice. I want to print one soon as I just got my 3D printer. Probably going to print with PETG as PLA doesn't hold up to heat very well.
  16. My nights and weekends have been so busy that I haven't even had time to open the box yet!
  17. Looking good! How'd the 3PO head work out? Get lots of great reactions?
  18. Welcome, Jeff! I was born and raised right outside Atlanta (Cobb County), but after my service with the Army my wife had us move to upstate NY where she's from. Glad to see you make the jump to MEPD as this is where you'll want to be!
