  1. As a 6-3, 220# trooper, I can honestly say that RT-Mod is the next choice for me. I simply don't look good in other suits except for FX and the accuracy issues of the old FX bug me. I currently troop in FX with a TM helmet but would like to upgrade to RT-Mod. I've seen it in person and even tried on another trooper's armor and I could see how well it could be made to fit me. RT-Mod has no screen-used provenance though, so that's an issue for some.
  2. Wayyyy cool. Love the EU Legacy pilot. You don't see many of those.
  3. Awesome! Welcome to the ranks.
  4. Interesting thread. We used to have small guys who looked like bobble-heads in the FX bucket and if helmets keep shrinking us bigger guys will soon look like pin-heads!
  5. There's a thread on this subject over at the RPF where some very good pics of their production softgoods are shown and the prognosis is NOT GOOD. Their fabric choices are so far from the originals as to be laughable. I'm sure it's like Nol stated in his post. It all comes down to pricing. Sure, they could make a screen accurate version of any costume but after they've paid their licensing fees to LFL, advertising budgets, and the overhead any company incurs they still wanna walk away with a profit, as they should. Trouble is, if they spend the money to make the suit accurately, their prices will be very high. Too high for the general public, the people who they believe make up their potential customer base. Besides, I kinda like the fact that "the good stuff" is made and circulated off the grid.

    ROM/FX

I like having my sound setup under my chest plate because there isn't a lot of room in my bucket. Now that I have a wireless rig I don't even have a cable running out of the helmet.
  7. Here's my shot at it. Do with it what you will. The Imperial Sandtrooper is among the most feared of the Emperor's elite soldiers. Equipped both mentally and physically for the harshest environments in the galaxy, the troopers who are chosen for this duty must be battle-hardened and focused with specialized training in independent problem-solving and advanced weapons technologies.
  8. http://www.originalprop.com/blog/?page_id=8524 The title says it all. I'm amazed how many details of the production of ANH continue to come to light. This article also contains some nice pics.
  9. Wow, you have a good memory. Yeah, I remember that pic. Now I'm sporting a TM helmet with FX armor, but I'm thinking of trying RT-mod. I'm 6-3 so accurate armor's out, I'm afraid. But just wait till I finish my ANH Vader! Yeahhhhh!
  10. NICE! I scratch-built one and had a lot of fun painting it as well. Of course it wasn't as accurate as that hyperfirm but I had a lot of fun looking over tons of pics of the real thing. Yours looks fantastic!
  11. Wish you had video of the scares. I'll bet that was a ton of fun!
  12. Coolness. Dude, you'll be off KP in no time.
  13. Great work, bros, and what an awesomely beautiful location!
  14. SWEET! Looks like plenty of sand everywhere. You could've weathered that clean trooper right on the spot!
  15. I like E6000 too but it can sometimes be hard to find especially if you need it RIGHT NOW! LOL. I've found that household Goop does just as well. No matter what you choose, you wanna rough up the surface a bit before gluing. Even high temp hot glue will work in lots of situations if you prepare the surfaces.
  16. Awesome resource. Thanks for sharing, Ward.
  17. Nice find. If I remember correctly, isn't that the pic where Vader's helmet is skewed? Judging from that filled gap at the back, do you think it's possible that the one in the pic is a casting?
  18. Whoa! Your sandie collection has to be one of the all-time best, Rolf! Keep rocking it, brother!
  19. That's a good looking bunch of roughnecks! Awesome.
