  1. This was the most i could take off and get them to conform to the helmet. The lid back was quite warped. I too would like to take more off, but a test fit with a more trimmed ear left a LARGE gap.
  2. As promised, PHOTOS! Torso pieces laid out. All are fully trimmed and ready for snap plates tomorrow. All the arms and legs are assembled but some are still curing up so i didnt bring them inside. Imperial inspection crew is helping out. Pieces in various stages of gluing. E-6000 is the way to go building your arms/legs. It gives a great, flexible bond. ATA stamp. Great lid! Assembled helmet. I decided to go with the raised brow like in Pandatrooper's build. I cannot recommend his build as a tutorial enough for the helmet...its excellent. Other ear piece Profile This shot shows how i put the shins together. I use a backing strip and join the 2 halves together...then glue on the cover strip. Makes a bullet proof joint. I figure this should help someone. Also, i do not use the rear cover strip as i am skinny enough to just overlap the back of the legs. Another shot. Super magnets i got at work for gluing. The big ones will stick through my arm. The crew is posing. He needs a big Imperial decal. Yours truly...blinking of course. I forgot i have to open my eyes without lenses More to come...fitting should start up tomorrow.
  3. I can personally recommend both the AP and the ATA lids. Personally, i like the AP helmet more (the dome is a bit smaller) but for the price you can absolutely not go wrong with the ABS ATA helmet.
  4. Well, the long weekend allowed me to make an amazing amount of progress. I have the arms and legs fully assembled with cover strips and the torso pieces are ready to be strapped. Helmet is around 35% complete. I have to say the ATA kit simply flies together...its a treat to build. Photos when i get home!
  5. As a case in point At this years Wondercon in SF my wife (who has seen Star Wars maybe 2 times in her life) asked my why all the FX helmeted troopers had the wrong helmets on. Granted, she has been staring at my AP helmet for awhile now but still...regular folks do notice the FX helmets. FX armor done well wont be noticed except by other troopers.
  6. I will post photos in the morning. I have all the leg pieces ready to glue and the arms are not far behind.
  7. Well, my ABS ATA kit showed up today. Going to start trimming and gluing tonight after work hopefully. Should hopefully be a much faster build than my previous TK kit since i know what im doing now! Will post some photos once i have some interesting progress to share!
  8. My ABS suit is in the mail as we speak, ready for TD build. Should be fun.
  9. Woohoo. Its a great feeling getting approved.
  10. Now i just need my suit to arrive hahah. At least this build should be fast since ive done a couple suits already.
  11. photo update. Overall photo, still missing some parts, but getting there. Bee stinger section ready to get attached was trying to get a good radio photo, but the imperial construction department intervened This is how i attached all the equipment to the seed trays Seed tray attachment to pack cross bars
  12. All my concerns are already posted, so great suit and nice background!
  13. Yeah, i agree with mr Dirty
  14. Ive gotten a bunch of work done. Have all the bits attached to the seed trays, so now all i need to do is get the shotgun shells stuck on, and add the mortar tube. I will take some photos when i get home showing my attachment method, as i think that is helpful for people (hopefully)
  15. Same for me. But then again, i got my stuff from Dirty Boy!
  16. It would probably make it come off easier. The ABS is not that rough to begin with anyhow
  17. It always seems so simple, and then you start realizing all the little things you want/need to do. And then one day your DONE (and dirty). Yeah, post some hand guard photos when you get time. Not having built an AM i cant say much about their relative size.
  18. Im not polishing the ATA suit im working on now...its just added battle damage
  19. All my joint strips are glued except the back of the shins, which are overlapping with velcro. I find the velcro connection on the overlapping method is quite weak and does not look good elsewhere. Plus, the covered butt joint is pretty bulletproof with E6000 glue since it can flex with you. Check out This for how its generally done. Another good reference is Stukatrooper's build of AP. It shows pretty well how to do the cover strip glued assembly
  20. Weather over it! Seriously though, you can probably buff an acrylic weathering job off with novus polish
  21. What sort of mesh does everyone use for the move along shotgun shells? I cant quite tell from the build threads
