  1. Andrew; Thanks very much for the info on the Hovis and the screws! I completely forgot to add the screws. (I guess that means I have a couple of "screws loose," lol.) Thanks again.
  2. Andrew; Many thanks! I'll pick up some Testor's French Blue on the way home today. What Hovi's did you use? Tim
  3. Great thread/question! I have two MRCE buckets, one of which is a heavily modified TD. I painted out the lines in the traps and tears, have medium-blue replacement tube stripe decals (maybe still too dark though), flat green lenses, and I caulked shut the seam along the frown. I think that qualifies that helmet for Level One sandtrooper approval even though it's an EFX/MRCE bucket, but I could easily be wrong. Can I please get an expert's opinion on this? Thanks.
  4. Thank you very much. GREAT community here!
  5. TK-4267 requesting 501st access please. Thank you.
  6. Many thanks! (I can't get the link to work; I gotta be doing something wrong.)
  7. The thing is, when a TK buys that pauldron, whether they know it or not, they've just started on the journey to becoming a TD. Next thing, they'll want an ammo pouch for that pauldron, then they'll NEED another pouch to go with the first one. After that, a backpack, then the lure of the big gun becomes too powerful to resist. After that, somebody's shopping for Humbrol paints, etc.
  8. Many thanks! I have a major gear-collector obsession, my armor-tote crate has doubled in weight since I started working on being a TD... :o As for the driver's license, I called the day before to get permission from the DMV and from the Sheriff's Department, since they provide security at the DMV office. After getting everything approved, I came in the next day and the ladies that operated the camera re-positioned the camera, the chair, etc so that as much of the armor would fit into the picture as possible. So, on that note, I'd like to humbly thank all the 501st members who work in Law Enforcement, EMT/Paramedics and all other First Responders. Your bravery, compassion, and professionalism are greatly appreciated.
  9. I have speakers in my backpack, powered by 3 AAA batteries, that I plug into my iPod. I have about 20 minutes of police/military-style radio chatter with distortion that I play in a continual loop on low volume - sounds just like a police scanner. It's from a sci-fi video-game (can't remember which one) and there's even one part where the C.O. can be heard on the radio saying "Move along, move along." The chatter also mentions shuttles, weapons, "clearing out" residential blocks, hard-points, officer down, lots of radio "10" codes, etc. If anybody wants the MP3 files, just PM me, and I'll email them to you. They're about 20MB, so I'm not sure where/if I could post them online for download, but I'll be happy to email them to you.
  10. Greetings all. TK-Tim, MidSouth Garrison here, working on becoming a MEPD trooper. I'm only a TK so far, but I've already commmitted myself to becoming a TD - I wore the TD armor to the DMV to get my driver's license photo taken as a sandtrooper: I've already built the following: Armor (FX with MRCE bucket) Pauldron (black) Mag Pouches Backpack (with radio-chatter electronics) Monoculars (Sub-Assault game with greeblies) Ankle Gaiters (non-canon just for fun, Vietnam-era, inspired by IMPS trailer) Left Shoulder "mini-pauldron" (non-canon just for fun, inspired by IMPS trailer) What I need now, however (feel free to PM me): TD ab-plate TD knee-plate T-21 I'd love to make my own T-21, but I have limited building skills. I work with computers - I can build you an industry-quality MMORPG or a cool website, but I'd just maim myself with power-tools. (Yes, I forgot to remove the left TK shoulder-strap; oops!)
