  1. It's all in the packaging and selling the sizzle. You can paint poop gold and sell it to people as gold but it is still poop painted gold.
  2. Holy Cow! I didn't know this thread was going to turn into a Brotherhood lovefest. This is without a doubt the numero uno detachment in the 501st.Lotsa and Lotsa Goodfellas here-likeminded,all out for their fellow men, women and children. Each and every day I am impressed with the good hearts that make up the MEPD. I don't drink either so I'll raise a Arizona Green Tea to yous. Dave
  3. I don't want to see you get screwed with $$$$.Saturday is the day. Everybody goes on Saturday, maybe we could hang afterwards and grab a burger they usually gather at some place in the city. The first I hear definite plans you will know as well. You get that PM I sent you about Clones?
  4. Anyway you could just do Saturday? It is a great Con but from what I am seeing on the boards it looks like there is some confusion on "comping" us armored guys from the event people.Command staff is working on it.
  5. They are working on the details with the event people, this is being hammered out as of this posting. I will let you know Rick. Dave
  6. Did you take a look at Cushman? Compared to a Hyperfirm they are cheaper and look pretty good with a nice paint job. The only knock on them is I hear they are quite fragile, especially when young fans want hold it while taking pictures.
  7. Hey, whats going on.Dave from Lawn Gyland,New Yawk (I don't really talk like this) Glad you've stuck a toe in the sand box. We don't bite.Becoming a MEPD deployed Officer is not as hard as you might think. There is plenty of nice fellas to lend a hand on these here boards. See ya, Dave
  8. Hello to all, we are like one big happy family here.Lots of help, encouragement and brotherhood minus the dinner table squabbles, Pass the gravy, please. Dave
  9. Yes, do that,so you can play Madden'11.At least we will get to see these before the world ends in 2012. Smiles,Smiles, Dave
  10. Sweet pix.I like the backdrops- your dirty armor complemented them well.
  11. The early word is SE versions, original theatrical not included. I guess Uncle G is saving that for the next format.
  12. My Ipod ranges from the Sex Pistols to Sinatra. My faves are The Police , Rush , Zeppelin , Sex Pistols , The Clash , Badlands , Elvis Presley . When I was a teenager I played Bass in a punk rock band and I always remembered Elvis being on the tube when I was young.
  13. Especially one with a good heart, head on straight and a true Dad.
  14. Nothing like a good armor build to take your mind off of lifes everyday BS.I got to get cracking on the clone I started in December.
  15. Sounds like some of this bad stuff is in the rearview mirror.I am happy that you two are happy.
  16. Rolf, I always look forward to reading your posts. A couple of days ago I mentioned to my boy about maybe inheriting the armor one day and carrying on the trooping tradition. He got a big smile on his face and he tells everyone he is going to take over for me when I hang up the T-21. I told him maybe he could be a Vader because he is tall for a 10 year old and he will be taller than me.As far as you coming to NY one day, that would be great. A couple of us (Rick,John,Lou and myself) will be meeting up at NYCC this year, maybe one day you can join us. Best of everything to you and your son, Dave
  17. Check the boards-Walk is posted- October 3rd at Jones Beach
  18. Sorry I didn't check this thread sooner. I have a special fondness for the Autism Walk ,my son is on the spectrum and last years walk was the debut of my Sandie (my pics for deployment were taken there.)Great turnout and I was in tons of pictures. The same weekend of the walk is the Big Apple Con (the walk is Oct. 3rd and the con is Oct 1,2,3) The last Big Apple Con was fun (Qmaster-Helen got her Honorary award there) but this Con usually has some drama attached to it as a former ECGer works with the Con and there is some ill feelings still felt.I don't really know what goes on with this but we almost pulled out last year. We stuck it out and all was fine. Personally, the NYCC seems like a East Coast version of San Diego's con (with less Hollywood celebs) NYCC is also hosted (just like the last one in Feb 09) by the ECG.NYCC 09 was my first troop (clean TK) and I had a Blast. The Saturday is always the biggest 501st/fan turnout. I have never been photographed that much at any event since. I would not like to plan the Bro helping Bro award at Big Apple due to the drama,it is unpredictable. NYCC is bigger.I think that is why there is already a post for NYCC and not Big Apple, NYCC is our shindig.Once CV is over, I will look into if we are down for the Walk. I am looking forward to meeting the Dirty Boy,He is a good Dude. See yas,Dave
  19. Rolf, you have it figured out.Man, you are one cool dude. Your son is incredibly lucky to have a Dad like you.Even though I only know you here on the boards, you are a inspiration to many.No matter what crazy stuff life throws you-walk through it like you do-with your head held high. Have a Good Night, Dave
  20. That IS what it is all about.Very well said.
  21. That's awesome ,Rolf. You and your son are in our thoughts,Dave
