  1. My wife did not get that it is kitsch, and it is not art. The massive size is what makes it... and that he is like from ye olde times... circa 1870!!! It was meant to be a conversation starter, when friends come over... well, the room surely is. I can have sword fights in there, I can have lightsaber battles (I have MR Lighsabers out of view behind the doors), and I have a PS2, so I can kill, in a virtual sense. But it will be moved to the small wall. By her command. If anyone wants the file, it is just a wallpaper I grabbed off of the internet, I blew it up, and applied Photoshop filters. Up close, it looks like a painting. LMK. Also, Mike's idea is excellent. But my story shows what happens if you take kitsch too far!!! Also, the room is not just a Star Wars room. There is the 300 Spartan section, the Roman Legion area, the old Irish Equestrian prints, French Imperial Statues, OH OH... Mike, you did not see my Star Trek: The Next Generation mini-statues. So, men... film your man caves!
  2. My Man Room... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUnRfwMpIGE Oh, I was in the S#IT!!!!
  3. I was able to get good results by mixing blacks. Flat, Satin, and Gloss... on a T-21 build. I really wish there were a super-good resource for the barrel ribs. Can't find the rounded looking drain pipe of the correct diameter. As for the differing blacks, I will dig up pics and show one I did for Daetrin. The differing specularity of different parts make it seem that an object, made as one thing, can look like it had several components. Thanks too Pappy... you find the shots, then we can put together a blueprint of what would be shiny or dull, and the part has bakelte, actual wood, or just painted plain black. Chime on in... John
  4. The Lewis Gun, has been a coveted weapon of the Sand Troopers, and there are 3-5 options. I have held a real one in my hands, which was owned by one of my Garrison mates. It was a beautiful specimen, similar to guns posted by others on this forum. But many of the BFG carriers in different Garrisons, use the Lewis Gun in a variety of configurations... - A Sci-Fire Lewis Gun, a nearly perfect replication of the Lewis Gun, made with Hyperfirm Rubber AND even with wood-tone grips. - A Cushman T-21, a CNC'd replica of the Lewis Gun from PofSW Blueprints, made with Poly-Styrene AND a kit form of a T-21. - A FoxFlier ABS Lewis Gun kit. Similar to Cushman, requires internal shimming tabs to construct. No T-21 parts. - A hand built gun. Some look fantastic, some look like toilet-pipe guns. The Woodchuck is a fine T-21 Blaster in the hand built type. - OH, a real Lewis Gun... but converting it to a T-21 would seem almost criminal. But what is important – Which weathering is appropriate to get to this point... This is where a discussion on weathering, detailing, extra parts and so forth, make a Lewis Gun into a T-21. - What color is it? - Is a Lewis Gun, in its plain form, a T-21? (As compared to a Sterling being an E-11 – is it an E-11?) It would be cool if all who make BFGs, try to work together, and help make a consistent guideline. I would even draw up a schematic. TheGreatSot found a cool little piece all of us are missing. I will post it once it is found. Chime In. John p.s. – I have a new and exciting project I am working on.. actually 2-3 and I am loving rapid prototyping!
  5. Hey Ward! Have some of the body parts been tweaked? I heard there were some pending adjustments, (maybe from you in an e-mail last year). Also, have you considered a TD belly plate with the rectangle and indented detail and no buttons and ridges? And perhaps have an interchangeable "plug-in" box you swap in and out of the buck when you are pulling belly plates like so... One for TK, for those shiny guys on FISD. One for TD, for us dirty boys on MEPD. Other cool things would be... - flat straps for the chest-to-back armor - a sniper knee diamond - plus, if a dude says he is doing TD, you forego the drop boxes. Would save lots of dudes from Dremmel Accidents AND straps and a TD knee plate, made for the masses... all the same. Consistent. Pics Please Ward. Interested in how the revised domes look too. Send me a PM if you want to. Troop On! John
  6. I have a buddy with a lathe. If you have an old blueprint, from the model that was available, and used, in 1976. If not that... some supremo image grabs as a .jpg, please e-mail or post here in this thread. Plus, details like the diameter, and height of the "stackers" part... as for the rest, I could recreate, or reverse-engineer, a nearly-exact replica. I just need a real one to have for 3-4 days or blueprints, or great pics and dimensions... Then, I would need to find someone who wants to replicate, help me re-coup prototyping costs, and throw some commissions my way. That said, I have another cool item... I believe I have found an excellent base platform for seed trays. They are not kitty-litter boxes too. And there are details I can easily add, and we could have a new option for that... if one is needed. I need to learn how to vac-form! Sheesh. That said, I do not want to put too much on my plate, or make something where there are too many cooks, serving the same... dish (or "tray" in this case). chime. John
  7. So, what generated the sound effects, beeps, scratches, pops? Or is it just recording yourself through that nice voice changer? – I can't remember the name. However you did it, it is cool. I hope it was OK to use. Let me know. As for making it last a whie, I just took it into Quicktime Pro, copied it and pasted it 5 times, and made it loop for one hour. Go here to see my radio... http://gallery.me.com/john.sale/100189 I would love to figure out how to add some stuff to it, or make one for special after hours "troops"... for the ladies You know... "Is it hot in here, or are all the troops here having armor malfunctions? Oh yeah. I am feeling hot!" or "TD-1817, check out that one, at your 12 o'clock... niiiice. Hmmm, Oh Yeah. (like Bill Lumberg). Umm, can you nod if she heard that. - then the nodding during the uncomfortable pause - Ooops. I will check back with you later. Out." <-- then, you can apologize as a conversation starter. Most girls will not know the radio is a fake... they will think it is real!
  8. Go here... http://gallery.me.com/john.sale/100189 - First pic is Daetrin's pack, that I got for a bargain, AND, it got me approved in the 501st as TD. - Next two pics show what a little bit of scraps, from the garage and fridge and pantry can do, to make it look more screen accurate. - A pic of the scratch revise and an MH2 together. Note the tiny "D" ring on the side of the MH radio. - Then a Screen grab for reference of the tiny "D" ring.. Then some pics of the pack, close ups, Daetrin with a T-21 I built for him, my TE2, also my T-21. At the last, is a Quicktime Movie... Watch, and then chime in. I think that radio is done. Ask me what is inside... I hope that helps you see the stuff. John
  9. Mike painted my TE2. Which-TF is it? Pics in following post after I re-boot... I can't get images to opto-mize... ye-ah! Mike may be able to just tell us.
  10. I will have to dig up my 1993 Halloween pics... Then I will ***-in-you-late you!!! I was the Borg! My first Yahoo e-mail ever was billshatnerismydaddy@yahoo.com. It is a long story. By the way, anyone here know Bill Shatner? I wish to meet him. AND, anyone here know John or Thomas Knoll? John will do, but I need to be introduced to Thomas. I am writing a book, and I want him to write the Forward. It is a series of books... First One is "How to Rock in Photoshop – The 10 Things That Will Turn You Pro." I love Bill Shatner, like he was my daddy... really.
  11. Great idea... one could put a whole bar inside. You know what, I am going to do this... So, I need to put some expando-straps as bottle and accessory holders. If I made one, mine would have some Grey-Goose or Kettle One Vodka, Glenlivet (the Official Scotch of the Clone-Empire Command Staff), some Bombay Sapphire Gin, Club Soda, Tonic Water, Cranberry Juice, a shaker and strainer, and some glasses. OH YEAH! Good thing my pack is not sealed! I can just hinge the top, and use super magnets at the bottom! Oh, the radio could hold some shiz-nit too! Stay Tuned! HAHAHA!!!
  12. I have a pic of Mike Harrison on mine.. and my resume.
  13. You said "Trim" huh huh.
  14. Well, as you have heard, it is more than dirt and a pauldron. BUT, I am selling a pauldron, and a completed and weathered RT-Mod helmet with fans installed, an upgraded Daetrin V1 pack, that was built by Daetrin when he was getting his TD numbers – Now, he is the XO of this forum. That said, the pack is improved. I have a gallery here that shows my completed T-21/Lewis Gun. The first pic, is my Pauldron that is for sale. Also, you can see my pack upgrades in progress... also, a resource to show the process of all the stuff you need to do, add, buy, and tweak to make your suit into a TD... and better than having to pull out ABS polish and that dirty rag and "wax on-wax off" to be shiny whitey!!! A MUST: DUMP THE FX LID!!!! http://gallery.me.com/john.sale/100150 Go here to see specifics... http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=4964 I also have some Fuller's Earth in small containers. Just follow TD-1536's tutorial if you get some stuff from me. Also, I have a T-21 kit. It is an entry-level weapon. Follow link to see finalized result... http://clone-empire.com/lewis/daetrinslewis.jpg A great starter weapon, light to troop with, takes about 4-5 hours to put together, and you can upgrade to a pricier option when you are on your version 2 or 3 TD suit tweak-job. BTW, Daetrin carries that weapon. PM him about it. He loves it. I hope it helps. Send me an e-mailat john.sale@me.com – lastly, this is a great group of men! Very helpful and friendly. Troop On! John p.s - New and exciting stuff is coming as well. Stay Tuned.
  15. UPDATE: Acrylic parts en-route to Mike. Yay! John
  16. Want to troop at AllCon? My TD is nearing perfection (for me). TE2, as finished by MH. TD-252 orange Paudron AND Seth White Pauldron. New Caboots. Finalized T-21 and DLT-19. I will finish my V2 Backpack in 48 hours! New, more accurate pauldron ammo pouch. One more light layer of Fuller's Earth. Bingo!!! LMK by e-mail... john.sale@me.com John
  17. I saw there are several methods to do this. In an early post, it looks like engraving was happening and two layers of plexiglass were apparently layered... super-nice. Then Mike did a draw up of the screen based on TK-J's find... super nice. Then I saw some dark plates being considered as the two dark quarters... great idea. So, I took MH's and scaled it up about 118%. Then I added the two dark quarters in Illustrator, made them 80% transparent, and set to Multiply. I then brought the white lines and letters forward, and left the grey-green dial and the light grey-green numerals behind the darkening multiply layers. This is a vector PDF, just like Mike had made it. If you have CS2 Illustrator, anyone can play with the file. I just took a stab at it and modified it to be a different option... Dial PDF A description of what I did, just as a test, was print on plain paper, and slip into my MH radio (Version One) and I may cut some clear .080 acrylic, and make a protective "window" - or I may go to Wolf Camera, and print a photo, which will be a bit more vibrant, then add the clear layer... then some Fuller's Earth! Lewis, or whoever did the graphics for JB, you could download the file, delete the white dots and lines, and print the rest on film paper or duratrans, then etch, or white silkscreen the crossing white lines. Could look very cool. The duratrans can be backlit very well too. May save a layer or two. There are more than one way to approach this. And this is a very cool find... and MH, and TK-J, and JB and Lewis, are making some cool stuff!!! Troop On! John There are many ways to do this. I may try a back-lit duratrans... but for now, mine looks pretty much like Mike's.
  18. A pony keg in place of the "cistern" would be cool. I will have to figure up a mod kit for the Heineken to be installed there. Just add rings, attach, and have the spout run down the sleeve. But seriously, come by my house on Spring Break... I should have one assembled up. I am working on a actuated radar simulator, that spins slowly, to put behind Mike's Decal. We should have something very soon! Thanks for the PM brother! John
  19. Well, once I get one of the finished pieces, just come over. I am in Grapevine... you are in Fort Worth. Maybe 20 miles away. Send me your contact information in a PM. When I get a radio, you can come look and we can drink a beer.
  20. I concur. Resin, or resin, then some filler putty. Just sand smooth after it sets up, get one of those single-direction ******* files (yes, they are called that)... the jeweler type, with the small triangular cross-section, and smooth a couple of spots in the ridges... sand the face, and it should be close to perfect. Oh, and this is only for Mike and I. Sorry guys! KIDDING!!!
  21. He does not look like he is from Kamino... for sure!
  22. Dial is made tangible. Paid for and will be shipped tomorrow! I am pleased, since it is my first 3D prototype. Minor wet-sanding and pin-hole fills will make it nearly perfect! YAY! I can make 3D stuff now. Anybody have a wish list of what we need next? John
  23. I would like this as a soft, off-duty type suit... Easy to carry, probably not too pricey (mainly the lid I bet). Anyone know where to get one at a decent price? The lid I mean. Thanks! John
