  1. Actually! What if it is just a regular or variant hand plate backwards??? Weird! Saludos
  2. Hey, just did a quick research (I found time)... and I think we have it all wrong. For me, it seems that the cheesegrater handplate is some sort of small tray, part of something else, just like scrap part, added to the glove. I can see some depth with a rim coming forward, and some sort of tube like thing going in zig zag up and down in the tray. I think it is all one singe part. so probably the base or lid of soemthing else... here is a picture of an HD screengrab, and a quick drawing I did. My drawing is not that accurate, but does show the main shape I see... Particularly the shadows casted show a shape different than the one on the traditional shaped cheesegrater. What do you think? Saludos.
  3. I have never seen latex cheesegraters... I do know some makers pull them out of abs or hips, but not sure who still does. Anyway, just in case you are interested, cheesegrater hand plates are still in the gray area. Meaning that no one has proved, afaik, that they actually existed. Some ppl believe it was just some gaffers taped that got used instead of an actual part, or maybe just scrap plastic use as a repair. I think either of these theories are more probable than actually designing and producing a part to place instead of the real handplate. If you are going for the looks of it, hope you find a supplier. If you wish to dig up some other's research and theories, about 6 years ago it was a popular topic over here. Maybe you can find some useful info or thread. If I am able to, I will try to dig it up later... Saludos
  4. Looking really good Scott... Well done! Saludos.
  5. Hey Todd!!! Never worry about our community turning back against you or any of your posts or questions. We are all here to enjoy building and beings Sadntroopers, and making friends. We pride ourselves on being one of the most open and welcoming community on the net. So don't worry. Drama, flaming and confrontative behaviours is something we don't have and even if it would happened, we do not allow. Ask all the questions you have, comment all you want and just share and enjoy this hobby. The MEPD is a group of people who enjoy wearing dirt and call themselves brothers and sisters! Welcome bro! Hey boss... It does seem that the 3 button requirement was deleted somehow from the CRL. It does not appear on the basic nor on the PO requirements... Saludos.
  6. Good idea. I have been taking advantage of language and have been looking in Spanish speaking engines and sites... No luck yet. But we must broaden our search to make it more effective. Saludos.
  7. Any pictures to share, John? Sounds interesting... Saludos.
  8. Hey Evan! Happy to meet another brother that shares the passion of the MEPD community. And, sharing is really what we do. Not only de passion, but the info, references, findings and discoveries... Hop in and join the search. Its been about 4-5 years since it became an obsession to me to find this radio. I literally look at every single store, house, office, and junk pile I see every single moment at every single day. We will find it. It's just a matter of when... Saludos.
  9. You are looking for Jay aka Trooper1. The best most accurate pauldrons available. PM him here on the board. Or he will just pop in any minute now. Saludos.
  10. Sadly, This is exactly why he is not a vetted vendor on Mexican Garrison. It takes a loooooooong time for him to deliver. Sometimes, he does not even deliver at all. Sorry to say this to you bro. But, he is known for that. It is not a mater of personal, health or family issue. It is just well, a poor costumer service. I can feel your pain bro. Again, he is a good guy, a cool trooper and a good friend. Just not good as a vendor. And that makes him stand in a poor situation among many troopers. My advice, keep insisting via facebook, the forums, mails, PMs or whatsapp... And another advice, try to check for vendors' reputations with other troopers. Not all vendors deliver the same. Ill try to contact him again. Hopefully, something will happen. Saludos.
  11. Its has been a long time since we as a detachment recomemded velcro. I know some people still use it with fair results, maybe Dirty Boy, but most of us use snaps... More reliable and less bulky for parts like shins. Velcro is know to fail under extreme conditions of usage, or hot or humid weather... But, go with what makes you happy... Velcro might not make you too happy when it fails... Just saying. Lol Saludos.
  12. This is either the sonix or the North Star radio... Dont know for sure. Would that be of any help? Saludos.
  13. So, has anyone contacted him and had luck? Should I try to or just give him a break from crazy SW fans looking for old toilet parts? I am really interested in getting a vintage one. A real one. Thx for any advice. Saludos
  14. I have that exact same radio in my living room. I found it on a flee market for about 15 USD. Just mine is green. But it is a bit too small. Maybe around 1/2 of what I think the Sonix would be. I posted a picture on the first page of this thread. We will find it someday! Saludos
  15. Walking with a pack during crowded events is both a pain in the *** and an art. I almost never troope without a pack. I feel naked without it, so I have learned to walk and navigate with it. I sometimes still hit people, specially when turning around, bit it is not that bad. You will learn to do it. We all do. But also, people will learn not to come too close to you I think. LOL Saludos
  16. Those look fine. But if you are really looking for screen accuracy, you might want to get canvas ones. About them being acceptable for clearance, thats different. I think you would be fine for basic Legion approval. Not sure for Police Officer, and pretty sure those would not be acceptable for SWAT... Hope that helps. Saludos
  17. I would suggest to get to the where the color swatches are and pick the closest to, and have it mixed for you. Or, even better, get a Pantone swatch catalogue and use it to match the swatches available on the home depot... Most likely, any commercial available colours, will be a bit off one way or another. Hope that help Saludos.
  18. Awesome! Great plans Boss... you lead and we will follow. 2106 is going to be great. Saludos.
  19. THX Boss! No prob! And yes, he is a good guy and a good friend. Just somehow always manages to get delayed in his shipments. He is famous for being very VERY late always. But a cool guy anyway. No need to sending the Troops yet. Saludos
  20. Hey Juan Carlos, buenas noticias... Just talked to Lander a minute ago. He told me that the packages, 6 of them, were sent out on Saturday. He said he took some time to get the whole order together, but they are out already. He also told me he would contact you later tonite to give you the tracking number. He claimed to be very interested in keeping a good image to you and your Garrison mates. So, take advantage of that and hopefully you will be collecting your order soon. About future orders, well, its up to you. I have never had a problem with him delivering to me, but I now delays and other problems have surfaced in the past. Let me know if you need anything else. Saludos
  21. I would really see this happen to armors, not sure yet how to feel about levels and badges and CRLs... But, let's see. I Remeber when we first started talking about a new level over Police Officer. I think it was exactly 6 years ago. A year or so had passed where the Detachment was in a stall. Pretty much only about 5 members posting once a day, most notorious was Rolf, preventing the forums to die. Then came a new guy, Bluey and recluted a few more guys, including DirtyBoy, to strengthen the existing command staff and making the Detachment firstly stable, then stronger... We then became all excited about the new discoveries made around that time. If my memory doesn't fail me, the Sonix radio was finally identified, the so called SiMan armor was found (RS original armor), new more accurate paldrons were being designed and developed, pack parts were found and identified as the syphon, new ideas for weathering were researched and much more. And of course, Rolf was building the next ultimate Sandtrooper armor as always... a TM I think. So one day, Buey (then CO),Rick, Rolf and Me started talking about how cool would it be to make a new Forum icon for those troopers that achieved the next level of accuracy on their armors. Giving it something like a check list for armor, weapon, pack, puches and pauldron. Making it visible what that trooper had done. And when someone had all the boxes checked, a new badge would be granted. After a few weeks, discussing what accuracy would mean, and what aspects should it cover, Bluey came up with this mock-up: After going back and forth for a few months, and talking in consideration other troopers opinions like Paul's (Daetrin), and I think even Mike H, former MEPD CO, we decided to start working on the rules and standards of what would come to be known as the SWAT badge, not yet a level or CRL. 6 years later, we have the most demanding, accurate and coveted badge/level/Program on the 501st Legion. What will happen now? Where will this takes us as a Detachment, or just as the biggest, most respected and welcoming Sandtrooper community worldwide? Again, as always, this is an exciting time for us! And I think we are already on our way, with new builds being made more and more accurate. I really think that many of the standard basic level builds made today by members here, could meet pretty much all a regular 3er level CRL for other detachments, were accuracy is taken for making standard builds, not replicating details. And that, is a huge achievement for the Detachment. Let's see what comes now. Saludos
  22. Lookimg great so far bro... A piece of advice if you will to take it, dont worry much. I mesn, building your first armor is very stresfull. You dont want to ruin it. But good news is, you cant ruin it. Check the original srmor, it was a big mess everywhere. Chances are that you will build it better even if you mess it. That means, just have fun... My last build was done just with lexan scissors. No scote and snsp, no dremmel even no sanding at all. It was a lot of fun and not stressing at all. Seems that you are doing juts that, having fun... So keep it up Keep us posted. And if you need any help, just ask. Saludos.
