  1. Arriving in the post Mon a.m. was my latest aquisition for my Sandy (thanx to garth 501TAG) The old Sub Assault game,,,soon to be transported, thanx to the resin add ons included in the sale and my own brand of weathering,,, to the world of Star Wars Once the lil bits are glued on (god I love my hot glue gun) and a few light coats of white are applied, we have this... All pretty and clean,,,,stayed that way for about 4 mins....before the Dulux 'Tusken...oops, Tuscan Sunset" is liberally applied to all of it mind you if I had a tin, id cut the middle man and just dip it in... I apply weathering to every part the dirt and grime would build up, including places that i may only see... Once dry,,,out comes the trusty 3M ScotchBrite kitchen sponge/scourer, using the green soft scourer part with the occasional spit here n there (for the hard to move spots of paint) I start the process of rubbing most of it off, but leaving enuff of it where grime/dirt would build up. Once most of its off, then look at where the most wear n tear would happen thru constant handling, and a bit of bumping this and knocking that. So using the same process as before, the scourer bit,,,i rub thru the white to expose the blue/grey underneath and give it the look of wear thru its original manufacturers paintjob. Completed....1 pair of filthy (just the way i likes it) Sandtroopers Electro-binocs (scissors..ciggies and coffee...optional extras)
  2. Welcome Nathan....an awesome lookin Sandy britches you are
  3. Coz Moisture Farmers on Tatooine use Moisture Evaporators to PULL the water from the atmosphere (clouds)
  4. you and me both mate,,for a long time all i had after the trilogy finished was Star Trek When i do cons etc and i see Trekkies, I know me in my TD just poo poos on them heheheheehe but i still have more Starfleet, Klingon, Romulan and other starship models than i do SW...im 41 too And ST-TNG is the Star Trek that had "IT" over the others....of course ya just cant beat the Original Looking forward to the new movie later this year, will view it with an open mind and will most likely enjoy it for what it is as i do with all other ST stuff My only disapointment was why they had to end on a "high" the last season had the best stories and i doubt there was an Ep in Season 7 i dont like.... Conundrum...Cause and Effect...Tapestry <- my personal 3 fave eps To quote someone else...."we are not alone"
  5. As most of you will not know I have had a rather tragic xmas/new years with the unexpected passing of my mum . After dealing with that and having a refreshing TAG/VIC new years and Armour party (thanx to all and nice to see Stu n Miko again ) I wandered into NSW and spent 8 days with TK-J and his family Whilst there, with the deft hands of Jason (armour builder-extraordinaire) we pulled my suit apart and made some significant upgrades to it The smaller AP chest was removed and fitted with press studs as was the FX chest swapped with me months ago for my AP bells and biceps My thighs were hot glued together at the back and new webbing fitted for easy on/off and more comfortable fitting to hidden belt My forearms have been fitted with elastic to fill the gap, happens when ya build abit of muscle, and is a short term fix until new FX forearms arrive (APs r now to small for me) My Cod, Belt and Ab plate were all kept together with trusty gaffa tape (eh it worked) and gave me some flexibility to bend and sit, all tape was removed and Ab & Cod were joined with strip of elastic which actually gives me even more flexibility,,,,and the ability to pee if required My calves were shimmed so they now actually do join and fit, with the aid of velcro, although the sniper plate side,,as always,,does move around to face 'in' (APs dont fit the left leg very well ) Once everything that needed to be modified was,,,erm,,,modified, a more accurate weathering has been bugging me for some time, as Sandtroopers ARE predominately white n drirty, not dirty with a bit of white, so every part was rubbed back and everything was coated in British Paints "Pure Earth" a water based interior house paint. Once it had been left over night, I started to rub it off simply using a green/yellow kitchen sponge/scourer combo,,,we all have one somewhere The "Pure Earth" not only left the desired weathering i wanted, it also removed scratches and old colour, leaving the bucket and majority of the suit a "bone dried in arid sun" type of finish. without jasons help i honestly wouldnt have known where to start and dont worry to much about the boots as theyre just a fill in for the CAboots that I didnt have with me at the time..would also like to upgrade my deployment pics, whom do i send to??here or thru TAG?..the new pack is in another topic

  8. Well I started with dismembering the old, heavy, bulky pack started with this... a couple of milk and cordial caps later Plus a revamp of a lighter base pack and boxes.. All together....wont stay clean for long... Some of my typical "over the top" added extras ( I like clutter ) and weathering end result...what i consider one **** good looking pack (thanx to TK-J too ) Im not into uber accurate, love adding extra detail, so I have abit of a unique look..ish Will add pics of me in the whole kit and kaboodle

  11. wow!! So cool....after watching the same scenes over n over for the past 30 odd years and i NEVER noticed the 'roadblock' and outside docking bay 94 were the same locations filmed at a slightly different angle... Also as im not 100% sure but I have alsways thought there were 2x orange, 2x white and 2x black pauldrons in a squad, but i cant find a complete shot of all of them distinguishable in the shot, there is always one color turned away and not visible,,,,anyone know for a fact???
  12. awesome,,,,have to get onto jef(kuki) in Qld and sort some imp cogs happy new year to you n my extended family and also to my fellow Sandy Pants out there
  13. Christmas time down under in Australia IS summer...and in Brisbane its a sub tropical summer...average daytime temps are around 33-37 degrees centergrade and approximately 95% humidity...so trust me i would swap places with you right now!!!! yes same spot too... same room as GenCon and shaved it for all the good lookin ladies mate Thanks mate,,,i actually tried to get some uniformity here in Aus with the red beret as a "Down Under" Detachment (Royal Military Police style) beret color,,,but all the non TDs here jumped on me with stoopid remarks about "why is the mepd the 501st police force, so i dropped it

  22. Hiya Fellow Sandies Below is a topic opened on 501TAG this week and has been requested by our CO and CoG to cross post on other forums as this guy sells one item multiple times on ebay, spends your money and sends you nothing,,,,if any of you have been stiffed by this guy, I recommend you detail it all in an email and send it directly to Det. Chad Lonergan, Queensland Police Service Cheers Doug TD-1535 Troops, I have received a formal request from Queensland Police Detectives to ask for any members or non-members to contact them in relation to Bentley O'TOOLE. The following is an excerpt from Detective Chad LONERGAN's e-mail to me this morning:- "I have seen a forum for the 501st where a lot of people have had bad dealings with O’TOOLE. I cannot get onto the website from the work computer but had heard that you may have some knowledge/involvement with the 501st. What I was proposing was to post my work e-mail Lonergan.Chad@police.qld.gov.au on the website saying if anyone has had any dealings with O’TOOLE where money was paid for an item but it was never sent or they never received it to contact me via e-mail." It appears that O'TOOLE has been selling the same items over and over again [R2D2 units to USA & Spain recently] and after receiving payment for them never sends them. He then allegedly re-sells the same items a second, third or fourth time. As stated above this is an official request if you have had dealings with O'TOOLE and have been ripped off or know someone who has - please contact Chad on his e-mail address. Your complaint and information will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. If you have any questions please don't hesistate to contact me via PM - or you can just e-mail Detective LONERGAN. Cheers, JT. TAG-Terror Australis Garrison Capt of the Guard tk7551@hotmail.com
