  1. Thanks a lot for your replies guys, all these tips are great!
  2. The trooper with red markings looks like a monster o.O
  3. All the pouches, shotgun shells, and weapons shows that this trooper means biz-nad
  4. Hey Guys I just finished my TD outfit, and needless to say it was a huge investment. I spent a lot of money on the suit and the accessories, and a top-notch weathering job courtesy of Mike TD-1536. I have got to say it is probably my most prized possession and as a new owner I am trying to do everything possible to make sure my TD suit lasts a long time. However, one of the things I wanted to do in addition to official 501st troops is surprise people by showing up to the occasional birthday / house party, social gatherings, and even the occasional concert or other public events as a Trooper because I think it would be fun to see how people react. At the same time, I am really concerned about safeguarding my armor and protecting it from excessive handling, knocking, tackling, toy lightsaber melee attacks, and other damage that might be done by overly-excited kids and fans. Mike was telling me one of the best ways to be safe is to go these kinds of events with a friend or two to make sure people don't rough house with you. However, I would appreciate any other advice / shared experiences from you all during these "unofficial troops" so I can know what to be careful of when going to such events with my armor. What are some important do's and dont's? Thanks! ^^^ My Baby ^^^
  5. Dang it rolf, why do you have to do everything so perfect? I thought my costume was good to go once I got these sci fire pouches, but now I have to do the hot water thing. Woul you please explain the process in a bit more detail? How hot does the water need to be? How long do you soak the pouches? What is the best way to squeeze the water out?
  6. Just so you can be informed trooper: Apparently, an Earthling by the name of George Lucas somehow got word of the civil war that has been going on in our galaxy and decided to make a documentary on it (similar to the one's Earthlings have been making about their WWII, Vietnam War, etc...) How he was able to gain insight into the events going on in our galaxy is unknown, and the Earthlings must have some kind of secret technology beyond our comprehension. However, as many of us Earth-stationed troopers know, this documentary known as "Star Wars" is a highly bias depiction of the actual events of the Galactic Civil war, and many scenes are twisted to favor the Rebellion. Lucas must be sympathetic to their cause because any Earthling who has seen Star Wars is taught to see us as the "bad guys". For troopers who don't know, TD-0013 does an excellent job clearing up misconceptions about this horrible documentary in his podcast at http://www.adpov.net/ I recommend every trooper listen to all the episodes to be able to enlighten citizens about the truth of our war.
  7. I am planning on attending a local con soon as my first "troop" and I have spent months getting together my armor. I put a whole lot of time and money putting this costume together, and several people have told me how great they think it is. Now the task ahead of me is preparing to actually "play the part". So I'm wondering, what kinds of things do you do / say specifically to act like a trooper? What are some good lines to use during common situations? For instance, when people ask if they can take a picture of me, I am thinking of saying something like: "You're not affiliated with the rebellion are you?" So give me some phrases please! And I'm sorry if this topic has been raised before - I'm kind of new :/ Any and all tips would be appreciated. the more detailed the better!
  8. What does acrylic spray do?
  9. Hello Everyone, I have just made a tremendous investiment in a great set of armor, and comissioned a fellow MEPD member do a fantastic weathering job for me. Now I want to preserve my investiment and make my weathered TD armor more perminant. I understand that hairspray is the most commonly used solution to prevent the Fuller's earth from rubbing off due to handeling, but I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow apply some kind of professional (automotive or otherwise) paint protector spray to a suit of armor to further protect the weathering against scratches, heavy handeling, moisture etc... Has anyone else thought of, or performed this to their armor before? Are there any products you think would do the job? Can you share any other thoughts you have about this? -Phil
  10. Yeah I second that on the shotgun belt. The more ammo a trooper is carrying makes him look more serious IMO.
  11. You know what makes this even funnier is if you go back and watch that scene from ANH again and think about it in this context.
  12. I lol'ed man. Yeah you should keep making them
  13. I'm sure you got my message, but if you didn't, please add me for a spot! I just had a question, are the hip pouches designed to hang from a canvas belt without any additional modification? If so, that's exactly what I need.
  14. I think it would be cool if you performed in the entire suit. But that is pretty cool nontheless. Way to represent.
