darthgrace
What armor pieces should or is recomended to have return edges? I can see them on the upper thigh, the lower chest and the hand guards (latex or soft plastic should already have it). I am trying to fiugre out is it worth it to invest in a heating iron. Is this a preferred look or a requirement for anything? Thanks for the help.
TK4702
What kind of suit is it? I would say the torso parts should have a return edge. The top of the thighs, and shins should also... The arms would vary on the original suits, including the shoulder bells. But It all depends on what your'e going for as far as your armor status, and accuracy. Here is a collection of armor images that I've gathered over the years, maybe they will help? And here is my RS Props armor build as well. I tried to get it as close to screen accurate as I could. darthgrace
I am planning on getting an ATA suit. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Just doing all the research, reading and info gathering at this point. Hoping to buy the armor in March. Thanks for the links.
Lasse
As far as I can see on my kit most, if not all, return edges are allready there on the ATA kit. It's just a matter of cutting it right... Or? Correct me if I'm wrong here.
FIVE
If you're getting ATA you won't need the heating iron. Everything that should be there is there. In fact you're left with a good amount to trim off in most places.

TK4702
I had an AP kit initially... and tried the whole iron on the edge thing... it never worked very well for me.
iconoclasta_88
I have done some modifying with the sealing iron, and it is a tricky job. At the end I was happy with what I got, but not 100%. Just trim the armor the way it should be and you should be fine. No need for "making" new return edges, just use what the armor already has. Unless you want to modify the shape of parts like thigh tops and chest plate's shoulder straps. aaludos.
