Clear coat

I was wondering if any one has use a clear coat to seal the weathering? My armor when I pulled out of the box it was a dull finish I have seen some TDs with a kinda gloss finish any opinions?

Hey there Ken,

Most of us use a coat of hairspray over the weathering. It not only protects the paint job sealing it, but it also gives a little shiny look to the armor.

Is it just regular hairspray or something special

I used regular cheap non scented hairspray. Worked great.

I figured you would

If you have HIPS armor and it's a matte finish, you could wet sand / polish the armor or paint it before you weather it.

I actually used the hairspray to apply the weathering (I used fullers earth) and after a couple coats of that I used clear flat spray paint to seal everything (two coats). It minimally changed the look of the weathering but in my opinion made it look older.
