MiDri
So I'm thinking of redoing mine, can some one that thinks they have a good setup take some pics and show theirs? Most people have them covered up by pouches and paulderons so I've not been able to get a good look at one, and mine feels subpar.
FIVE
Here's a close up of what mine are currently like. I have "authentic" strap material now though and may swap them out. Since they ARE covered so much by pouches and pauldrons and parrots (pirate TD's only) it's the least of the worries my detail oriented mind is going to tackle. There is a "rumor" / "factoid" floating around too that the should straps were actually elastic. So... there's that to contend with as well. MiDri
Having not see one that close before, I actually have my straps over my armor as apposed to under them, I'll have to fix that.
FIVE
Yeah, they go under.
troopermaster
The straps are elastic and they do go under the plastic. There are no canvas or webbing straps anywhere on the original ANH armour, it's all elastic

Before my photoshoot today I took my top mounted canvas off and put some under my armor but over the black elastic straps that hold my front and back together. Works well. I'll look into finding some elastic next time I'm out.
FIVE
I don't think I'd like the elastic because it would move around so much... but I may switch mine out for the sake of accuracy.
SandySith
Time to redo the straps....again!

I'm in the same boat, my pack weighed down the elastic on my back plate so I switched to canvas. Maybe I'll use both layered on top of each other
