inglorious trooper
hey jason, the colour looks 100% better in natural light,i agreed with the guys till i saw that.see what they think? marcus
iconoclasta_88
Yeah! Lots of paint colors, but specially cameras and computers, can make color change in different lights. The most important thing here is, how does it looks in real life. I mean... PPL will be looking at your armor in troops or display with their own eyes so... what do you think? Does it looks too gray, or is it nice and blue? As I said, that color was one of the most popular choices a couple of years ago. It is not that bad... Anyway, if you rather have it blue all the time (real life and online), maybe you can consider painting it with other color or brand. Dirty Boy knows his packs... so his suggestion is one to be taken in consideration. Also, have you tried to find the humbrol online? I found mine online and I love the color of my pack. Hope this helps. Saludos. PS. If you can't find the humbrol on line, but want to go that way, shoot me a PM and I will help you find some. silverboyd
I couldn't tell how blue it was when I was taking the pic outside (that's how colorblind I am)...but I could tell a difference once I saw the picture. I dunno. To me it looks really gray in person but to a few other people I showed to outside today they told me they could see the blue with hints of gray in it. I'm debating on trying to track down a can or two of Rustoleum Lake Blue as suggested by Dirty Boy
Hottoysmax
Hi guys im new here, but building a TD and am starting the pack and was wondering if anyone has used model master FS blue, found it at my hobby store and thought it was close enough to the humbrol color. inglorious trooper
dont know that one,i always go with rustaleum slate blue!
DirtyBoy
I've never used it either....if your able to do so, paint it on some scrap plastic and take pics in the natural light. Then it will give the true test.
Rolf
ok...here's a picture of the color I used (Rustoleum Satin Slate Blue) out in direct sunlight today. And here is what the color looks like indoors or in artificial light You can really see the blue in the sunlight. What should I do? Repaint w/ a different color? Keep what I have? It's really amazing how the blue comes out nicely in the natural sunlight rather than indoors. Does anyone else notice this on their backpacks? The out door pics looks perfect/right color i think. I used humbrol 47 on my pack, and it looks just like your out door shot here
DirtyBoy
looks good
Scootch
Yeah, That Slate Blue is a tricky one. Grey in low light, Blue in sunlight. The Humbrol #47 looks Bomb!
Darth Voorhees
My old pack was painte3d with the rustoleum satin slate blue, it looked good to me. When i redid my pack, i used the humbrol. They are very close, the rustoleum is a bit more greyish but they are very very close

Vf2112
Yep but the sky blue makes the other look really dark Unfortunately the sun wouldn't come out for a decent pic try again tomoz 10pm here now
Herzing66
Hello guys, Wondering if one or two cans of Humbrol 47 will finish the parts? Also any suggestions on a good primer? Thanks! Darin
DirtyBoy
I'd personally grab two. The parts are going to get scuffed up and it's always better to have a little extra
Herzing66
I was told the backpack frame scuffs and leaves black marks on the armor if you paint it. Any way to avoid this? Thanks!
DirtyBoy
I've recently started adding a piece of black duct tape across the top bar. It helps and you can't see it
Gladius
I've tried out TAMYA Coral Blue TS-41 That Satin blue I saw before would have been my favourite, but didnt find someting like this. Result is not so bad
iconoclasta_88
Not bad at all. Could you post a picture taken in natural sunlight. As you can see I this thread, it does makes a big difference. Saludos.
Gladius
Okay, well actually we have only foggy weatherconditions here and when I come from work its already dark. So here a pic from this morning on my balcony: and one with kitchen light, which shows up already a bit different
Gladius
and here I found a Tamiya spray colors chart: It's TS41 (coral blue) and looks like TS72 (clear blue) :-)
iconoclasta_88
Ts72 looks good. Also in natural light your trays look good too. How are theyin real life. How do they look to your eye? You want them to look like the picture on your balcony, not as the one on the kitchen. Ill try to find a paint equivalence chart. Give me a min. Saludos. iconoclasta_88
This is supposed to be the closest Tamiya color to the original Humbrol 47. As found here. http://scalemodeldb.com/paintdetails/5385 And just in case, this is the pantone for humbrol 47. Saludos.
Gladius
Alright! Yeah those on the balcony look good. I keep it painted with it.
DirtyBoy
Looking good man....so hard to match the color based on the screen images available. Monitors and lighting conditions will cause a slight variance.
