We all know the word on the street says.

Its Humbrol paint:

French blue, or midnight blue.

To use on the ANH helmets.

To paint the strips, on the side tubes.

But are there any out there, there know it for a fact what clour/colours they used in ANH on them.

I have also paint a few whit Revell 51 (Revell is the same paint as Humbrol).

What do you use/know.

Cheers.

Rolf .

I think it was TonyRB from the RPB who did research on this Rolf, and was told by the someone from the costuming department that they used "the little paint pots" for the helmets.

Tony contacted Humbrol and found out which paints were available in 1976.

That's as much as I can remember. It might be worth contacting Revell and even Air-Fix to see if they were making enamel model paints back in 1976.

I don't think it's set in stone that only specific colours were used. Chances are, different shades and finishes were used....whatever they had to make them all 'look' the same.

as far as i know the humbrol paint theory is still uncertified!

the common belief is based on the fact that A.Ainsworth used humbrol paint for other vacuformed stuff.

as far as i know at the times of ANH filming there weren´t too many other paints like humbrolon the market.

if i remember right i´ve read somewhere that the humbrol color palette matched with what is seen on the trooper helmets like no other color palette from other producers.

at least this is what i´ve heard and read about it, sadly nothing really reliable!

The revell box, inside tube.

Is for plastic.

You just put it on angles/sides, to make a e.g nice box.

Like the radio box/back pack.

When you have give it a small sand paper job, the plates you have glue together.

Looks like a complete box .

Hey Rolf,

You also can use testor colors(Ford&GM engine BLUE) for the blue tube stripes as I did. It worked well for me.

Copy that.

I remember he´s site, very good stuff there .

I still think the might night blue, looks a bit too dark.

And the 48 too light.

Looks like the 47 back pack blue.

But its nice to know, that there was none over 50 back then .
