I have a member building a Sandtrooper. Had a question about an abs pull on the helmet.

Right under that ear it’s kind of a bad area. Do you think the Sandy weathering would kind of conceal that or what would you do? If it has to be smooth might I suggest she sand it flat then patch it with abs underneath and then add abs paste? Then sand and smooth?

I would fit a new ear with a smaller gap. The gap is too large. If it were smaller, it might be possible to cover it with weathering, but not like this. Take a look at members' helmets and also at film footage. The gap is too large.

Hi! I'm the member in question, and frankly I'm absolutely struggling to get the ears correct. I'm honestly considering just printing a helmet, I'm much better at finishing prints than I am working with this thin abs. Would that be a good route, or am I better off trying to correct the ears on this one?

I'm not a fan of printing. You can try it; the result will tell. I would cut a new ear. It didn't work for me the first time either.
