bearden6521
Is the radar dish butted right up to the mortar tube or do you guys leave the extension (the push button area) on the back side which would leave a gap between the mortar tube and the dish? Hope someone understands what I'm asking... In the pics below it appears that there is no gap at all
RoCKo
on my current pack i didn´t cut of the extension, but i will update my pack as soon as the MH backpack kit arrives. i´m quite sure i will cut the extension then too, looks kinda wrong right now! TD-1536
I threw away the little 'nib' piece, but I also left the handle/stem intact. I'd say go ahead and cut it... I never thought about it when I attached mine.
TD 8733
The more we all look at the pack the more things we notice. The photos seem to show a flush mounted dish. I had left mine on as well Mike but will be fixing it. Nice work Troopers.

td2878
will it be harder to attach?
bearden6521
It shouldn't make a difference. Washers, a nut and bolt will do the trick!
td2878
cool! what are you using for the mortar tube alvin ice?
bearden6521
Yep, I plan on getting one. I think that's about the only thing I didn't get yet! I checked the local Staples, UPS stores, Walmart...no one seems to carry them around my neck of the woods. I will probably have to buy one on line I avoid "on line" as much as possible. I hate paying for shipping! cool! what are you using for the mortar tube alvin ice?
SethB6025
Find a plastic 2" shipping tube. The ice tube will end up costing you $15+ and will be more work.
bearden6521
Any idea where to look Seth? Find a plastic 2" shipping tube. The ice tube will end up costing you $15+ and will be more work.
TD-1536
Crashmann/Charlie said he bought about 30 of those mortar/shipping tubes. If so, we'll probably end up reselling them with complete, future back-pack kits.
bearden6521
Are you talking about the ones that Phil posted a while ago that were on ebay as a huge lot? I was temped to nab them but I only really needed 1... That would be a good idea and save people like me from running around looking for a piece of plastic! I probably wasted 5 bucks in gas for nothing so far... LOL Crashmann/Charlie said he bought about 30 of those mortar/shipping tubes.
