I like how it makes it look more stained than as opposed to stuck on dirt.Sent from my SM-G928T using Tapatalk

DarthStevius
My technique was "trial and error". tried sand and hairspray, didn't really like it too much, but it got me through basic approval. then tried acrylic paint (mix and match until I got a mix I liked) and a mixture of brushes and a damp towel. This came out much better.
dutchy
There are so many techniques and weathering is something really personal. The effect you want can sometimes only be achieved by using a specific technique. What I used/ did is, I use waterbased terra colours Applied them with a sponge, starting with the darkest colours first and removing it with a damp cloth but leaving enough to work with on specific areas. Then added the other colours and repeated the process. Then I used the cloth and dabbed the colours into each other creating a natural look. Took me a few tries to get this technique right...but it works for me
Koryu1212(Dan D)
I went with liquatex acrylics and used basically the technique Pandatrooper showed...it helps I have a background in commercial art too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Volksjager
I also used the liquatex acrylics and followed Pandatrooopers technique and was really happy with the result But I ran into trouble when this was knocked back for being to dark and not enough orange tones. So I cleaned it off and tried another technique the second time around. I made 2 washs from the liquatex acrylics, a red brown and a darker black brown. I dabbed the Red Brown on with different size brushes and then dabbed off again with a clean rag, then built this up over a number of passes. Once dry I did the same with the Black Brown and then finally added some pigments on my chest/ab piece
dutchy
It amazes me that we all have our own technique, or have used the one from Pandatrooper and that all the results looks really great!

There is a lot of different colors of clay around here. Everywhere I go I look out for beautiful colors to add. When I get a new clay I add it to my armor. So if you look at photos of my submission to today, I get dirtier. I think it looks realistic as it gets dirtier. I used a natural sea sponge, a toothpick, horse hair, an old piece of terry cloth. Rostwor
I used woodland scenics earth colors liquid pigments and was applying few layers one by one using a sponge. Most of people are saying I’m too dirty but I like it. It also looks better on the pictures, otherwise weathering is not visible IMO. And at the end, “We fight dirty” Wysłane z iPhone za pomocą Tapatalk
